I have a question - Maybe cause I haven't seen it posted..
But with previous firmware - for example I'm watching a drama..I started on episode 4 and I finish watching it, the player will automatically play episode 5..
Now if I watch for a whole day I end up forgetting what episode I'm on. On previous firmware, when I press stop/return it will bring me to the episode I am UP TO. Then I write that down for next time.

With THIS firmware, when I press stop/return, it brings me to the episode on the menu to the episode I STARTED with. =="

I've adapted pressing "GO TO" for now..to look at episode number before I stop it..but that's stupid really.

Any other suggestions? Ways to fix this?
THANKS in advanced~

Hello,

You are correct. I've reported this and see if we can solve this to how it was.
You can also use the 'info' button rather than 'GOTO', but I guess that is also 'as stupid' :)

Thanks

The NAS is slow since this update. 2-3mb/sec. With the old firmware it was 4mb/sec, which is also slow for a 300n network.

You are most likely using the samba protocol to transfer your files with your NAS, just to be specific what is slow? If you have a NAS, you can also share with NFS which in general is quicker and also better for streaming. Since you have a NAS, this is usually supported and easy to setup. You might have better results with this protocol.

This is the case with the new GUI / SDK in combination with our hardware. The network speeds are quicker in the older SDK/GUI. This is not specific for this firmware, but for this SDK.

However, if you are using wireless as it sounds on your vague descibtion, then you have quite nice/normal transfer rate speeds if you compare to us and other users.

The network speeds variate a lot depending on which protocol you are using, and how you are using them. But in general, we are unable to improve the speeds further as long as we stay on the same SDK. For this product, we will not change the SDK anymore due to the simple fact that our hardware manufacturer stopped supporting this product.

Thank you for your answer. Yes i use samba, but i cant find how i can use de NFS function. At the filemanager i see NFS, when i want to add a new NFS, it asks for IP adress and map. What ip adress do i have to fill in? my PC or the mediaplayer? And what map?

Best regards.

Your PC's IP address obviously and a folder (not "map" which is "(land)kaart" in Dutch) which is shared for NFS, but if you have a Windows PC you must run an NFS server or Unix services for Windows (XP Professional and Server 2003 only) on the PC.

Love the new GUI. Keep up the good work! Could be faster though...

I only use the POHD to play music and video files of my Synology NAS and leave the HDD in the POHD empty. I also don't use the other options like BT/Samba/etc. Originally the POHD was supposed to function as my NAS, but due to all the problems, reboots and slow speed, it's better to use the POHD for mediaplaying only. Sad but true.

But now encounter yet another problem. Most of the times the POHD can't see my NAS under 'Network'. Using the shortcut option to the NAS makes the unit to reboot, even when the logindetails are saved. Even more strange is that the NAS can always be found under UPnP, but using this route is less usable because then the tumbnails are not shown and a lot of subtitles won't work.

Is this fixable, or am I doing something wrong here? Why isn't my NAS always shown under Network and why does the unit reboot when using the shortcuts?

Just noticed yesterday that movies with idx + sub don't work well. The movie plays, but I don't get the subtitles and in addition the playon becomes totally unresponsive - if I don't want to watch the movie anymore I must take out the power plug.

Is this a known bug? Any way of bypassing it?

Hello,

We have no issues with any of our idx/sub files. You can check / convert damaged or non working subtitles with a free software like 'subtitle workshop / google' to get them to work. If your problem continues or is existing on more than this 1x source. Please let us know.

Br,

The problem exists on more than one source, but now I've also had it happen with a regular srt file. So my new theory is that it's related to older files encoded in the xvid format. Everything works fine for a few minutes, and then the box becomes unresponsive (and no longer shows any subs). The same files work just fine on my computer (tested on splayer and vlc). The problem was also there in the previous version of the firmware.

Hey and thanks :)

Do you have static ip or automatic DHCP on your NAS / Network? This could be a reason if you reboot either device and the IP has changed. It should not reboot, this I agree, but this could be a reason for this.

If not, please also safe-flash the same firmware with another USB-stick formatted to FAT32. I would not ask if I did not think this can be related :)

As a 3rd option, if you have a NAS, they usually have NFS sharing option. This is in general the best protocol with a linux system just like ours and also same compatibility as Samba. Check your NAS manual how to set this up, and then go to 'Files Manager:NFS' there click 'Menu' and add your NFS share. You will not have any problems with network discovery with NFS.

We can't reproduce this. Checked about 10 different idx/sub + srt files and none of them have issues.

Here is a example(posted below) of a avi/xvid file with .srt file that works (also our other files) if you want to compare to yours just to see that we have similar files or not. We have not gotten a single email or phone call regarding this issue. We had .srt and idx/sub issues before, and if this is a general problem, we will find out about it :)

Do you have this issue on ALL your .srt and idx/subs? Please check that your hard drive is healthy with chkdsk in 'setup:system:check hdd for errors' or connect to a PC with USB-slave and check with your OS. Alternatively you can flash the same firmware with a different USB-stick that is formatted to FAT32 to rule out faulty USB-stick / flash.

Hey,

I'm sorry to hear about your inconvinience.

It could be that your USB-host completely failed and if you tried the SD-card slot as well, you are out of options and can use the warranty. Send a email to our support and you will be helped further.

Br,

Solved this issue, the SD/USB board has a broken capacitor, returning under warranty. Thanks to all for your input
