Post HD2 re-boots and freezes
It’s been a week since I bought my HD2 and I must say that I am not satisfied by the media player as much as I expected to be. The main reasons of my disappointment are

• slow reaction of the player (from the remote control)
• slow network speeds
• freezes or automatic re-boots

Nevertheless, my main concern is the re-boots and freezes. I still haven’t figured out what causes the freezes (I have turned off and on automatic rescan for the hdd but nothing changed). As for the reboots, it happens for example when I try to load the html file that has been produced by JAMJ or when I try to log on to YouTube XL.
Is there a reason for all that? Has anyone found a solution to that annoying problems?

Dear Nick,

if you're having problems with the stability here's what you can try to do:
1. download & install latest beta firmware according to this post: viewtopic.php?f=168&t=18751

2. turn off autoscan & clear the history. Both options you will find under SETUP -> SYSTEM -> Autoscan Storage / Clear History

NOTE: you can now try again to run the player and the jukebox. If you're still having problems go on with the following:

3. Update to the latest YAMJ. Therefore please first uninstall the existing YAMJ installation from your PC and remove all files that are leftover.
3.1. download & install YAMJ installer from our homepage:
32bit: http://www.acryan.com/downloads/YAMJ_In ... 0_i386.zip
64bit: http://www.acryan.com/downloads/YAMJ_In ... .0_x64.zip
3.2. remove the /lib and /properties folder from the installation dir on your HDD
3.3. download and extract the latest YAMJ from Omertons MediaPlayer Site to the installation folder on your HDD and overwrite eventually existing files: http://mediaplayersite.com/YAMJ_Latest
4. make sure you have your files named correctly. There are guides on how to do that here: http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/w/list
5. run the jukebox again and scan your files/folders.

You shouldn't have the reboot problem now anymore and due to the fact that you disabled the scanning and history the player should react faster as well.

As for the network speeds you didn't mention what speeds you get. Do keep in mind that the transfer is limited to 100mbit and the streaming does 1000mbit.

The problem with Youtube has been confirmed a long time ago. This is a problem that lies in the SDK we get from our chipset manufacturer and until now they have been unable to resolve this. I am afraid that there will be no fix for this anytime soon - so don't use your own login for now. The normal browsing / search / watching should be no problem.

If you have any further questions please do let us know.

best regards,

@ kraakie

The firmware is the last Official Firmware v9.5.3.r7317

=========================================

@ Arne

I will follow your instructions and see where this will take me. Hope that will work. Definitely, i 'll post my findings.

One more question: When the player works normally, without any hangs or reboots, should Autoscan Storage be off or on? Because from what i noticed it usually scans the whole hdd and takes some time to complete the process.

Thanks you both for your quick replies.

My experience keep it off and use the filemanager
If you want to use any kind of movie info etc use thumbgen or yamj

Post Re: HD2 re-boots and freezes
It's been a weekend of tests, after i downloaded & installed the latest beta firmware. My findings are the following:

  • The HD2 is now more stable and faster.
  • It didn't freeze (only on the first boot after the firmware upgrade).
  • Transmission worked fine, although it didn't keep my previous torrents.
  • Network speeds are slow on transfer mode. My best was a 2.6 MB/sec.

Now, for the JAMJ i followed Arne's directions and there are no re-boots anymore.
The only thing is that i haven't been able to make it download covers and information for my movies library from the internet although i have followed the rules on the file naming.
On the other hand it worked quite well for my "tv series" library.
I even wathed kraakie's tutorial on youtube, but there is nothing different with my set up.
Do you think that it might be something wrong with the configuration of the program?

There have been updates to YAMJ to fix this.

You would be better looking/posting in the YAMJ section of the forum.

Post Re: HD2 re-boots and freezes
Lately, i am having network speeds up to 250-300 KB/sec which makes file moving a complete waste of time. I am trying to delete a folder with the 3000 small files through my pc (on the same network) and it takes ages.
Is it something wrong with the latest firmware?
