Post Re: true hd
Thanx for your reply again i appreciate it & yes i completely understand that as i say right now i just want the file to play for now with some kind of sound like you say downmixed or whatever until i can afford a receiver. So r4824 doesn't allow the truehd to be downmixed?

I have been keeping an eye on the firmware releases for a long time but i've been hesitant to upgrade with the issues that i've been reading here. 4824 seems to be the best for what i need since i'm just playing from ext hdd's & all i want is for all my files to play correctly including subs if i need them.

Hopefully the latest firmware is a solid firmware like 4824 & i'll be set. I'll give the upgrade a shot in about a month when i'll have my mums mini while she goes away & that way i'll have a backup player & if it works then i'll upgrade hers aswell. i have a workaround for now although it's a little time consuming it will get me by (i'm just extracting the truehd audio as ac3 then add it to the mkv as default track)

If this upgrade plays everything & fixes this issue i'll be very happy :) That will leave only 1 issue & thats the orignal pgs (.sup) subs from bluray not displaying in mkv container hopefully that is addressed soon in a firmware update bcoz i know many people would love that.

Post Re: true hd
strange thing about this is as you say truehd audio should be supported by my player so i thought i would try something last night. can't remember if i mentioned in my previous posts but my workaround for the time being has been to extract & convert the truehd audio to something simple like ac3 or lately i have been going with flac & then making that the default track by doing that the mini plays the files no problems but i thought i would try last night to play the file & then once the movie was playing try to change the audio to the truehd audio track & i did that & it played so i don't get this at all.

Hello,

If you want a quick and good reply to your question, please include your: AVR model / how you are connected with cables HDMI 1.3 or 1.4 or something else? / what firmware you are using / what product you are using + board on this product? If you have the Mini, this was released with a DD model that does not support True HD, but also with a C+ model that does. You can see this if you go to 'Setup:Misc:Version info:board:'

Br,

Thanx for the reply mikael this has been my main issue for a long time but i didn't have hardly any files with truehd so it wasn't such a big deal but now i am accumulating lots of files with lossless audio sometimes it's truehd sometimes its dsthd-ma. I have no probs with dtshd-ma or any other audio just true hd as i say the mini jams when i select the file. Now i am actually not using a receiver well not yet anyway when i can afford one i'll get one but for now it's just my tv speakers so i'm not expecting the benefits of lossless audio i just want the file to play. I'm using r4824 & it's just my mini connected to my plasma via hdmi. I play everything only from my ext hdd's & my board is 1073DD C+ so it should infact support True HD then?

Let me check with you the chipset of your media player? There is no 1073DD C+, you might have either 1073DD or 1073C+ and only 1073C+ can support HD audio.

Hope you can check again. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I as well read '1073DD C+' from 'Setup -> Misc -> Version Info -> Board'. Is something wrong with our players?

Sorry I've checked again, you are correct, strange as few previous firmware only shows either of it. If that is written in the player version info, then your player is using the latest chipset for that model.
