This update is important for the internal (Playon!HD 2) and external hard drive (Mini2) handling. We want to see how this update works in more enviroments. You are not forced to update but we need feedback on this one before continuing to update other parts. If the feedback is positive then we can continue.

This is the reason we release beta firmwares and if you don't want to install them, please don't feel that you have to.

Post Re: [Beta] Firmware_Playon!HD Mini2_PV73800_v9.5.5.r7716
Some feedback with the new firmware.

I've hooked up my 1TB 2.5" USB 3.0 drive to Mini2 (NTFS-Win7 formated, single USB connection), just like I always do. Then I've made some file operations with internal file manager: renaming, delete of single file, delete of whole directory etc. It went without problems.

I've also played few movies (MKV 720p) - no problems here either. I've found one problem with fast forwarding. It works fine with low speeds, but as soon as I hit high speeds, it starts to skip big portions of video. It is showing a portion of video with around 2-3 speed, then skips 10-20 or maybe 30 secs entirely and start showing again with around 2-3 speed. I don't know if it's a general problem or new NTFS driver problem, because I rather use GOTO than fast forwarding. Just thought I should mention it.

Next problem that I could identify is with Samba. When device is freshly powered on I could access my drive connected to Mini2 from Win 7 PC without problems. Speeds are also fine - 13-15 MB/s. I've done some file management (delete, upload new etc.) - no problems here. Problems started after playing movie (720p MKV). I did a 5 minutes test play, then hit return, so it got me back to my file list in internal file manager. At this point I've connected to my HDD from my Win7 workstation using samba. File browsing is normal, but problems starts after uploading few small files or 1 bigger. Drive becomes sluggish, speed drops to 5-7 MB/s and then uploading stops. Total Commander gives me "Please remove write protection from the drive" error and cancels copy. At this point drive is no longer accessible from Windows through Samba. If I go back to Mini2, it's working until first try to access the drive. It is trying to read file list (activity circle in lower-right part of the screen), which it can't. During this I can't power down Mini2 either from button or remote, so I have to disconnect power supply. I've managed to replicate this 2 times now, using steps described above. I didn't recall this problem with earlier version of firmware (few versions back), when I was still using Samba, so this could be related to new NTFS driver.

If you need any more info, please let me know, I will be happy to help.

Problems - Repeatable 100% of the time with this firmware. Does not occur with r7317 and before.
Mini2 is being accessed through SAMBA/Win 7 Ultimate PC, no router, switch only etc.

It appears to me that memory/processes/resources are not being released correctly.

Scenario 1:
Boot Mini 2HD
Run YAMJ to update files
Load Jukebox on Mini2HD

At this stage, no problem. Jukebox & playing fine....

Revise NFO file or JPG for YAMJ update
Run YAMJ
Mini 2 hangs.

Scenario 2:
Boot Mini 2HD
Run YAMJ to update files
Load Jukebox on Mini2HD
Exit Jukebox
Load Jukebox on Mini2HD
Mini 2 hangs.

OK... I tracked down some of the weird sh1t that was going on.....

This firmware is randomly turning JPG files int FOLDERS which then causes YAMJ to throw an error when updating the Jukebox.

This is NOT a YAMJ error as using Samba on r7317 or directly connected via USB, there is no problem.

Going back to 7317. This firmware is unuseable.

I got the same problem yesterday. I had some .bmp files left from earlier filecopy test, and some of them were turned into folders as well. So not only .jpg file, but it looks like any graphic file. Only difference, I didn't used YAMJ.

Going back to r7317 as well, before this upgrade decides to destroy any more of my files in the process.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the information.
Any suggestions or way to reproduce this? We have not noticed this. We will for now randmly copy / move files and folders including picture files (jpg + bmp) to see if this would occur.

@ all: Regarding YAMJ, we are compiling a new version together with the developer of YAMJ and this will be released when ready. This beta has no YAMJ related fixes or updates.

If you require any assistance with YAMJ, check our YAMJ section here on the forum for tips and help.

Hello,

This BETA release is only released due to the new NTFS driver.

We have already fixed the spacing issue in arabic subtitles to best we can. To have the spacing 100% natural it would require a different font, and it is not possible to modify for 1x language font without modifying everyone. This is why we can't fix the arabic subtitle spacing and the reason it is not possible to improve further.

This is the reply I got from our engineers who spoke to Realtek about this issue, so this issue has been closed.

Post Re: [Beta] Firmware_Playon!HD Mini2_PV73800_v9.5.5.r7716
Hello
I have my Playon HD Mini2 attached to my TV and my Hifi equipment. As I often listen Internet Radio, I would like to use the Mini2 for this purpose. Therefore, a web management would be fine, as I could to start playback my desired internet radio station by accessing the web management on my computer, which is running most of the time when I'm at home.
As there is no such possibility, I am forced to turn the TV on, click through the Playon's menu items until I reach the internet radio station and start playback. After that, I can turn the TV off.
But everytime, the radio station stops to playback, I have to turn the TV on again, and click through Playon's menu.
This isn't very comfortable for me, having to switch the TV on for listening internet radio.
Couldn't you solve this with a web management? I know that the Playon HD with integrated harddisc has this feature, but I don't need an integrated harddisc, that's why I have chosen the Mini2!
