Post Crashing while Network Browsing on a HD Mini2 and HD2
About 80-90% of the time i want to browse my network on my Server 2008 R2 server, my HDmini2 and also my HD2 crashes while networkbrowsing,it's driving me nuts  .
They only way is to unplug the power wait and reconnect and hoping it works (but most of the times i must do this 2-5 times before it play my media file)

Tried completely new cabling (Cat5E<20Meters), other network Shares (NAS), other network card in my server, other switch but nothing helps, the F*ck!ng peaces of Sh!t (HD2 and HDmini2) keep on crashing every time i try to browse my network and tried enumerous time to flash the latest Firmwares (Save and unsave mode) like they tell everyone that fixes the problem,NOT!!!

Internal HDD and ExternalHHD work fine but i want to stream !!!!!, isn't that what the mini 2 was meant for ??
Just give full permission to your share, this should fix the problem. WHY ?????,i want to secure my network instead of my kids viewing Thriller or horror movies.

It looks like they cant reproduce the errors (as so many users are able :?: )

It looks like ACRyan doesn't mind that you are having networkproblems, their just happy they sold you a not working peice of SH*T so they can cash out and leave you with all the misery :stepout: .

At this timeI DO NOT RECCOMEND any of their products if they can't fix this networkproblems.

Already posted these problems a while ago (>1 Year) but no response, or they tell you to flash the new firmware.
Or return your hardware they have a defect (Helloooooooooooooo, wake UP!. both my players giving exactlty the same problems???????????, and from myside every peace of hardware has been changed!!!!!!!!!!!!)

AC-Ryan You should be ashamed of yourself selling these products as mediaplayers
Just first fix the networkproblems and crashes before selling this as a Network Media player.

Users with old hardware (HD,Mni,HD2,HDMini2 ) are left in the cold, support and new firmware releases are somethingof the past

I even want to help (using my network as a test enviroment) to fix this to make other users happy.

A very dissatified and angry customer

Well, I have exactly the opposite experience.

Everything works as advertised!!!

I am one of the users who cannot reproduce your problems.
I always stream from my Windows Server 2003 (which I admit is not the same as Server 2008), for which I created a dedicated user on my server, after which it is a matter of setting the correct permissions for the shared folders and files.

Hello,

This is not a general problem, but I do get your frustration as we have probably all been in similar situations when nothing works to your logical mind, at least if you are working with network / electronics / computers in general.

As I have no experience with the OS you are using (I did use Windows 2000 server when it was relevant) I would have to ask if you are sharing with Samba or NFS? Do you have the same exeprience with both? Are you perhaps trying to enter shortcuts from main menu and your IP address has changed since the time you made the shortcuts? If you are using 'Thumbnails view' could you try to press 'Menu' in 'Files manager' and select list view, and try to enter again?

These are the initial suggestions that I would try.

If you posted here a year ago without reply then we are sorry(this is your first post though), but you can also email us for 48 hour reply or call us for a direct reply. At times we will not be able to see and reply to all forum posts. You have all these details on our support page: http://www.acryan.com/support

Since I have now replied to this post, I will track it. So the above support details are not needed at this point. But I want you and future costumers to know this information, that these are the rules and ways to contact us in case you have any questions or issues.

Br,

I'm sorry for the OP, but I also have the exact opposite experience.
Streaming via DLNA/UPNP, NFS and SAMBA from my QNAP works absolutely flawlessly with my HD2mini.
In my case, the shares are also protected by username and password and are read only. No problems at all.

Tried to enable NFS (within server 2008R2) but that crashes when i am wachting a movie.
I just want to use NTFS with folder security.
Most of the time the screen freezes when browsing and frequently the mediaplayers reboot.

Maybe it's the router ?, already tried another one but they gave the same issues (Both Sitecom Routers, maybe thats the issue ?). I will try to change the router for a switch and see if the problems are resolved.

And yes, because of the foul language i used to temper my anger with i created a new account because did not want to block my old account.

I also had the problem that the PHD crashed when browsing (on my NAS, but I'm sure that's not different). The problem was solved when I set the PHD's IP-adress from 'fixed' to 'auto'.

I know it's not much help, but I have 3 Mini 2's all working fine with my Server 2008 R2 box.

One flaw the Mini 2's do have (and my old Mini) is that they don't cope well with network errors and delays. I had a Netgear NAS,when I had power saving enabled on it the players would often either reboot or lockup completely during the delay while the NAS had to spin up coming out of sleep mode.

Ray, thnx for the info but the crashes are random so powersaving is not the problem.
This is a HP ML110 G5 with Server2008R2 (DC/DHCP/File/Print/SQL) so all settings are manageable.

I also tried another switch and removed the router and then removed te swith and used only my WL309 Sitecom router but in both hardwaresettings the mediaplayers keeps crashing.
Switched to DHCP instead of Fixed, still didn't work

Does anyone have any onter options ?

I will try to remove security form one or more shares, but that isn't a solution for me
