@ Everyone,

Hello,

We don't communicate firmware release dates. This has been the case for a long time, and this will not change until our developers decides otherwise.

However, we are in the middle of testing a firmware for this product, this means that we are working on it, and when enough progress has been made for a new version this will be released on our website if official, and forum if beta. We have tested several of revisions since the last beta version r.6629. Just not ready for public yet.

Br,

Can somebody please tell me if transferring files from USB memory stick to the internal HDD still causes the system to reboot loop?

This is one flaw that's really getting on my nerves lately as its so handy to be able to just use the usb stick for files, as my pc is a desktop and is in completely another room. So currently transferring stuff is a real pain.

Still happens on occasional basis. We have now an internal test version were we have been unable to reproduce this so far. So we are optimistic that this can be resolved in a next update. Keep an eye out on our firmware section!

I can confirm that on v9.5.3.r6629 I get 60% boot loops attaching a USB storage device be it a 32Gb flash drive or an external 3.5 SATA 2TB USB drive.

I installed the firmware using the safe method NOT an upgrade.

Hi,

first of all i must say that i like my playon hd2 very much...
I have the problem, that movie jukebox YAMJ via network share finds index.htm, but when i open it it shows no movies...via web browser from PC it works. I dont know if it is related to the beta firmware or a general problem....somebody any hint?
From internal hdd it works fine.

I had this problem when I only flashed the device with the new firmware. Since I formated (after a backup pf course ;) ) the internal hdd after the install of the new firmware the reboot loops with usb devices are gone for good.

ABS, thanks for the info, however, that should not be required since updating a firmware using the safe method should be more than enough to get the device to behave as it should.

Completely formatting an HDD to get rid a bug is not acceptable in my eyes. That would suggest a major issue elsewhere in the firmware if such drastic measure are required,

Hello,

If you initially formatted your hard drive that is in general enough.

If you get a reboot, and are in a loop, simply remove the '.Theater' folder from your internal hard drive, and this reboot should be gone. You can do this by connecting the Playon!HD 2 with the USB-slave (blue cable) to your PC/Mac and delete the folder.

Br,

Like I wrote, only formatting helped in my case. It's tedious and shouldn't be necessary I agree, but it's the only thing that helped.

Br,

This is not right thus.
After the delete from '.Theater' folder, chkdsk must be running under Windows.
The playon destroyed the file allocation table by errors on the NTFS partition.
If you do do not chkdsk, if you have later broken files. Not immediately, it comes on it how often you copy move etc. this is very individual. It would be a pity to your movie collection.

You can read this, but it is in german, use google translate.

Greeting Steffen
