My pvr76120 is playing up AGAIN!!!!
I have lost sound. No audio is coming out of my pvr. It is hooked up via hdmi, my amp is working fine, i have audio output from all my other devices. I also had my internet upgraded to cable and to my horror my ISP supplied me with a Netgear modem/router (CG3100) Ever since i have not been able to connect my pvr to my wireless network. I bridged the modem and connected it to a Netgear dgdn3700 modem/router, and i still can't connect. I don't know if it's an issue with the pvr or the modems. My pvr used to be connected to a Netgear dgn3500 and that worked ok, but i was having a lot of problems with my adsl so Netgear replaced the dgn3500 with the dgdn3700 or else i would try to bridge the dgn3500 with the cg3100 and see it i could still connect. I am at a loss!!! Seems like i have gone from one problem to 2 problems now and i am not a happy chappy

Re: My pvr76120 is playing up AGAIN!!!!
Audio issue has been resolved. I reflashed the firmware and sound is alive again.
I'm still having issues with connecting to my wirless network though. SSID is turned on. I have tried different SSID's as i found out a while ago the pvr will not connect if the SSID contain apostrophes or characters other than plain letters or numbers. I have tried different encryptions to no encryption and still can't connect. The only way i have been able to connect is to set my router speed to 54mps, even though the AC Ryan Network adaptor is supposed to be N type and should be able to connect at higher speeds it won't connect. If i set it to 145 or up to 300mps the unit fails to connect and when it does connect a 54mps the connection is very unstable and slow. It seems like i am doomed no matter what i have or do when it comes to this unit....$260.00 down the drain. All i stive for is to have fast internet (which i now have...cable) a fast network (Netgear dgdn3700 which is N600 dual band 2.4ghz and 5ghz). My TV and pc's all run on the 5ghz frequency which leaves the xbox360 (which connects fine to my network) and the Pvr76120 on the 2.4ghz frequency. The only issue i have is with the pvr76120 that won't connect. The pvr76120 has all the bells and whistles that i want in a media player. It's small, plays lots of different formats and the storage capability is great. It's just plagued with lots of issues!!!

Hello,
Thanks for your feedback!
The USB-dongle from AC Ryan is not compatible with 5Ghz. If you select 2.4Ghz you will have a higher chance of success.
Try this!

Re: My pvr76120 is playing up AGAIN!!!!
Thank you for your reply. I have not tried to connect it to the 5ghz band. It won't even show up on the 5ghz network setting because like you said it is not capable of doing so. I even disabled the 5ghz transmission from the router in case there was some kind of conflict but that made no difference.

Re: My pvr76120 is playing up AGAIN!!!!
Ok,
You can try to change the different wireless protocols from the variations that are supported by the USB-dongle -> WPA2, WPA2-PSK, WPA2 AES/TKIP, WPA etc. If none of these protocols work to connect in combination with using 2.4Ghz frequency, then I'm out of ideas for this part from contacting your routers manufacturer for assistance. They can normally come with tips/tricks that are common with their hardware.
The only other way to know if the USB-dongle + DVR are working is to try and connect these with another router, if this works, then you could have a 'handshake' issue, if this does not work, then you could have a faulty USB-dongle / DVR.
If you could try the above, then you will find the cause of your problem. If you are unable to do this, then you can contact our service centers and they can do it for you. You have these details on our homepage / contacts section.

Re: My pvr76120 is playing up AGAIN!!!!
I believe it could be a handshake issue between the pvr76120 and the modem/routers simply due to the fact that my son's xbox360 hooks up to the router without a problem. My pcs and tv, when set to the 2.4ghz frequencies all connect to the router but the pvr76120 won't. Like stated it will only connect when the router is set at 54mbs regardless of what encryption protocol i use, eg WPA2, WPA2-PSK, WPA2-AES/TKIP, WPA etc. The AC Ryan Dongle is marked as an N type dongle not wireless B/G. I therefore should be able to connect my pvr76120 at N speeds. I recently had cable internet connected to my home and the router i am trying to connect it to is the Netgear CG3100. It won't connect to it. I also have a Netgear DGND3700 which i have bridged to the 3100 to give me dual band capabilities etc.... It will not connect to that either. I believe that the R&D department at AC Ryan need to release a new firmware so the pvr76120 can keep up with these newer types of modems/devices, and to also address all the issues that us owners of the pvr76120 are dealing with.

Did you check the AC Ryan WiFi dongle in your PC? The necessary drivers can be found here.

Re: My pvr76120 is playing up AGAIN!!!!
I am downloading the drivers as i type and will check them in the morning as it is 12.40am and i am tired. Please understand our frustrations here gents, i am not the only person having issues with this unit. It has been sometime since a firmware has been released and we all have been dealing with these issues for too long. I am sure i am not speaking for myself but i feel as when it comes to this unit, we are beginning to feel abandoned. Good night!

Re: My pvr76120 is playing up AGAIN!!!!
I have downloaded the drivers and installed the AC Ryan wireless dongle onto my pc and have been able to hook up to my dgdn3700 modem/router with the router set at, up to 300mps with wpa2-aes encryption without a problem. Actually i am using the dongle as i type. This leaves me to believe that it's an issue with the PV76120 it's self, or should i say, the firmware. So far i have tried the last 3 firmware releases and all of them will not allow me to connect.

You don't say whether you use DHCP or static IP addressing. The unit is unable to use WLAN static IP addressing, although manually reserving an IP on the router will work.
