My ACRyan unit can't play big .MOV files (1080p, 30fps, H.264) taken by Canon Powershot SX1 IS camera.

I've determined that the size threshold is around 2GB; meaning it can play files smaller than this size but not larger.

Is this a known issue?

Firmware version is 3966.

If you record smaller files does it play then ?

Of course it does play smaller files as I already stated previously.

The puzzle is why ACRyan can't play larger files, while my PC and even my smartphone can play all these larger files.

ACRyan PVR has no problems playing larger files. I had a 15GB MKV (don't ask) and it played fine (i was on 3966 too)

What happens when you try to play them ? What error/symptoms do you see ?

Not sure if it's a problem specific to MOV files.

It is definitely specific to these MOV files made by my Canon camera, as I don't have problems with any other formats (MKV, MP4) on ACRyan. But then again these files play perfectly with my other devices. And my ACRyan doesn't have any problem playing smaller MOV files also created by the same Canon camera.

The file browser can still detect these MOVs as video files, but upon playing them the player just kicks back to the browser menu. They can't even be previewed either.

Wish I could upload/attach one of these files but it's huge 2GB.

It's possible the header in the mov file has a limit of 2 gb

Not all camera's use a standard header for there media files

That may be the case. But the fact still remains that other devices have no problem with the allegedly non-standard header and can thus play the files, but somehow not ACRyan.
