 Can't access external hdd/ Behind 2 routers
I have the following problem. My Ac ryan is downstairs and connected to the modem. the modem has an internal router. My pc is in my room and also behind a router. So i am behind 2 routers. I have done all the basic stuff with the kraakie guide. For some reason i can't access my external hdd in my ac ryan.
The question is how do you set up a connection between your external hdd and the ac ryan behind 2 routers?
Can someone fill me in?
Thnx in advance

By disabling the DHCP service in one of your routers, you create one network instead of two. Reset both routers after disabling the DHCP in one.

ohw ok but, i also had to configure my routers for u torrent with the ports. If i disable the setting you suggested does that affect the ports on my u torrent settings?
Also,
Do i need to set up a fixed ip adress in the ryan after this? If so wich one should i use?

Re: Can't access external hdd/ Behind 2 routers
I suggest the following configuration:
(A)DSL line or cable ----> modem/router with DHCP and port forwarding (if required) connected to: 1 ----> AC Ryan 2 ----> Switch (= router w/o DHCP) ----> PC(s)
This should result in one network with IP addresses in a single range from 192.168.x.1 through 192.168.x.255 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
The AC Ryan may have either a static or dynamic IP address, that does not really matter. A static IP address (for any device) should be outside the address range that is used for DHCP assignment and obviously should not equal the IP address of the router.
In the configuration above you will not see the "switch" as a separate device.

Re: Can't access external hdd/ Behind 2 routers
ah ok i will try that out but i have another problem. Maybe this is the main problem. I have set up everything with the kraakie guide. also the external hdd is shared etc. But i don't see it on my deze computer window. I can only see in the netwerk options my C drive. I don't see the hdd. Btw the hdd is connected to my pc and i want to stream content from my external hdd to the ac ryan.

You should not share entire drives like C:\ or K:\, but only folders like C:\media or K:\photos. Further I do not know if folders on an external disk drive are shared automatically again, if the PC is booted after being shut down.
Why don't you connect that external hard disk directly to a USB port of your Playon?

Re: Can't access external hdd/ Behind 2 routers
yes you are right. If i connect the external hdd to the ac ryan via usb can i still down load stuff behind my pc and send it to the external hdd? So download a movie for example and the storage location is the extternal hdd on the ac ryan. If that is possible it would be great. Otherwise i would have to attach the hdd from my pc to the ac ryan over and over again.
thnx in advance

Re: Can't access external hdd/ Behind 2 routers
You can copy or move files over your network from your PC to a USB drive attached to your Playon. I only recommend not to download files on your PC and send them immediately to your Playon. The best way is to download the files to your PC, unzip them on the PC and then copy the files to the Playon. Turn on SAMBA/NAS on in the Settings menu of the Playon.
