Post [downloads] Nzb Leech - usenet downloader
Hi folks,

the VEOLO is a great device in terms of power consumption and apps. Downloading with the VEOLO can be made possible by getting those additional apps that enable you usenet or even torrent access.
there is a great free app out there which i have tried - and obviously works. It is free and is called NZB LEECH which you can get from the official android market.

Android Market:
Link

Setup NZB Leech:
After installing and opening the tool you need to press the 'menu' button to access the settings page. Key in your server and login details and you're ready to go.
In case you want to download bigger files you should use an external hdd or usb stick. With the help of mount tools you could download to a network location as well but this won't make much sense i guess.
I am using a usb hdd which is mounted in: /mnt/sda/sda1 <- this i set as download location for nzb files. See the attached picture for more information.

Getting NZB files:
It is recommended to use firefox or opera browser to download those nzb files from your source pages. Firefox for example stores downloaded files by default in '/mnt/nand/Download' <- this you need to set as NZB directory in NZB Leech tool under settings.

Starting the download:
make sure you have:
1. installed nzb leech
2. setup nzb leech correctly (server details, login, nzb directory, download directory)
3. downloaded a nzb file with firefox for example
4. open nzb leech, to find and start NZB files you need to press and hold the select button in the start screen of nzb leech. It will than display you a choice of available nzb files from your nzb download directory.

Happy leeching & best regards,

Thanks for that. It actually works like a charm. I get 2.0mb/sec. download speed (which is the max. from my provider).
I actually download directly to the sdcard which saves additional power instead of having an external drive up all the time.
I mean how the heck did you guys do this - the unit uses like 5w. There is no htpc that can compete with this and if you calculate this over a year or so you easily save the investment of 200 euro for this device.

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback, and you are correct. I'm not aware of any similar product that can run on so low power levels. This is until proven differently, a unofficial world record in low power consumption :).

Amazing!! its such a incredible device, had little to no problems, that a reboot wouldnt fix!

Now, to stay on topic, if by any change theres this, NZB leecher kind of app, with a webreacheble interface (or atleast a way to add nzb's to it with a computer) then ill be very interessted!

Keep up the good work, and dont loose faith in the veolo! that box is amazing, it just needs more advertisment (and little improvement to make it user friendly)
