Ehm, yup HDMI control is on and ehm yup, even the coaxial input did NOT give me digital audio when all my other devices did not...

If this is the problem: I kinda need HDMI control because HDMI 3 on my Marantz is passing through video from my UPC Mediabox when the mentioned Marantz is turned off.
Also strange that when I powered down (and up) the Marantz all sources did pass through digital audio, not?

well if the coaxial input also did not have audio,
it is hard to believe it has anything to do with the hdmi control.

but it is known that hdmi control can give strange faults,
but i have never heard of this one yet.

is there a possibility that the receiver can be updated by an firmware?
i know some receivers have that option.

It IS strange. I'm no expert on audio but definately no noob...

I think a smart thing is to wait for a reply from Marantz now, the NR1601 does not have firmware updates.

I just turned on my Playon and selected movies with DTS HD and Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio which have been played without problems before, my Marantz's display said 'stereo' but no sound was to be heard. When I switch to 'normal'DD or DTS I do get the proper digital surround...
The Coaxial was removed from the ACRyan and also from the menu in the Marantz.

Another forum I searched suggested (to someone else with a bug) to reset the Marantz, do you think this could work? On the forum it was said that all settings would be gone but also faults in the firmware...
Also (question number 2) when I switch off HDMI control, you still think I gain anything?

I'm a sucker for audio and things do not work properly.

And yes, I am aware that I'm going off-topic... Maybe a post on a Marantz forum would be in place...

if no audio comes from the playonhd now just stereo ,
just test if hdmi control switched off helps,
If not? yet another thing we have tested and sure it ain`t the course or is the course.

Tested and ruled out...
No audio at all.
Also tested with lipsync of and no succes too!

In the meantime I have registered and posted on the Marantz forum.
