PlayOnHD2 unable to connect to wireless network
Firmware: v9.5.3.r5440 Router: D-Link DIR 615
Dear all,
I just got a AC Ryan POHD2 with HDD installed.
I would like to get the POHD2 connected to my wifi network. And there is a line of sight between the router and POHD2.
The POHD is able to locate my wifi router from the Network menu. However, I am not able to connect the POHD onto my network. I have tried password entry, Push Button and Pin Code and the answer is Test Fail.
Samba has been turned on and off, rebooted and still Test Fail.
I appreciate any assistance or advise.
Thank you in advance.

Re: PlayOnHD2 unable to connect to wireless network
hi,
are you using DHCP or static ip's in your router config? Do note that Static IP's are not supported for wireless as well as hidden SSID's. So make sure you see the correct SSID and enter the correct password.
For a test you can disable encryption on your router and try to connect to the WIFI network. Also move the unit close the router maybe to check if it's a problem with the distance.
Which WIFI dongle are you using? We have 2 different models and always recommend to use our dongles since we do not have drivers included to support other brands. Ultimately you can try to connect the dongle to the pc and try if it works. There might actually be something wrong with the dongle.
Hope you can give us some more detail about your setup.
br,

Re: PlayOnHD2 unable to connect to wireless network
Hi Arne, Thank you for your reply. I am using DHCP, not static IP. I am using the AC Ryan Wireless N dongle adaptor: http://acryan.com/product/playonhdessential/accessories/The dongle can detect the my network and my neighbours as well but I am not able to connect to my network. Test Fail is the error message. I have tried to disable the firewall on my DLink DIR 615 but still the error message appears. Please advise.

Re: PlayOnHD2 unable to connect to wireless network
Hi Arne,
Just to add, I disabled the router wireless security mode to None. Which means it is an open system, no password required.
My laptop was able to connect wirelessly. No problem there.
POHD2 and the dongle was able to detect it.
I tried to connect and Test Fail.
I tried my neighbour's network which is also an open system and the Test Fail error message.
Please advise.

Please advise. re, ok than please try to install the latest beta in safe-mode. Might be that the system files have been corrupted or the drivers are not working properly. newest beta can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=168&t=17209Safe-Mode method (*recommended!): 1. Download and extract the .zip file into the root folder of a USB-stick. Make sure the USB-stick is formatted to FAT32. 2. Insert the USB-stick to your player. 3. Shutdown the player. 4. Press and hold down the power button in front of the player for 15 seconds. 5. Your player will restart and install the new firmware. Please try to connect again after the successful upgrade procedure. br,

Re: PlayOnHD2 unable to connect to wireless network
Try the safe-mode upgrade as Arne suggested first!
If not successful, please check in your routers settings if you are using 5Ghz bandwidth in the wireless settings. If this is the case? Then please also try 2.4Ghz only and restart the router once.
You can also try to switch the current Wireless protocol from/to (depending on what you have now): WPA, WPA2-PSK, WPA2, AES/TKIP if this would change the connectivity and restart the router if you change the protocol.
If you live in a area with a lot of wifi signals, then you might want to switch the wireless broadcast channels as if you are using the same channel as your neighbors you could have connectivity issues with your wireless. This is not a normal issue, but just additional tip while troubleshooting.
I hope any of the following suggestions will get you connected. Let us know how this goes.

Re: PlayOnHD2 unable to connect to wireless network
Hi Arne,
Thanks for the reply.
Ive updated the firmware in safe-mode. I checked on the Version Info and I can confirm it is V9.5.3.r6629
I disabled the router wireless security mode to None. POHD2 and the dongle was able to detect it.
But as expected, I am getting a Test Fail.
Please advise and thanks in advance.

Re: PlayOnHD2 unable to connect to wireless network
Just want to update with the issue that I posted here.
It seems there was a conflict of IP address for AC Ryan. So I reset my D-Link DIR 615 to its factory settings. And then turning on each device one by one.
AC Ryan located my network and this time, I was able to get connected to it!! I am able to see my NAS and able to play from it.
Thanks for all the advise everyone.
Happy New Year.
