Post Unable to Detect PlayOnHD2 NAS on Win 7 64 bits
Dear all,

I'm currently encountering a problem with trying to map the NAS to my Win 7 64bit. The mapping is working fine with my Win 7 32 bit or Win XP so I suspect its something wrong with the 64 bit version.

I am currently unable to map nor see the PoHD2 on my network, even though pinging and going to the Transmission page of PoHD2 works.

I have tried the latest version of Firmware (r5440) but it does not seem to work.

Configuration

Router: 2Wire 5012NV
PlayOnHD2 Firmware r5311, connective via Wires to the Router
PC: Win 7 64bit, running on wireless.

Error message during mapping: Windows cannot access \\192.168.1.64\hdd1 (my PlayOnHD IP) (Yes, the NAS is on, and SAMBA is on, other PC can connect to it, just not this PC. Firewall is off (and uninstalled)

Please do help!

Did you turn on Network detection on your Win 7-64 PC?

Yes, I did turn it on. All the settings were the same as the Win 7 32 bit PCs, but it did not seem to work.

Can you see your other PCs from your 7-64 and access shared files and vice versa?

All devices in the workgroup WORKGROUP, though this is not really required?
My server and PCs are members of COSYATHOME and my Playon Mini is a member of PLAYERS (I changed the default).

Yes, I can see all the other PCs, I just can't seem to see PlayonHD.. Unable to map it too.

The other PCs in the Network are working fine, all are in WORKGROUP as well.

No IP address conflicts? E.g. static IP addresses within the DHCP range of the router or same IP address assigned to different devices?

Turn off all your devices (full power down) and restart them, first your router, then your Win 7-64 PC and your Playon. It may take a upto half an hour before the Playon shows itself in your network. This has to do with Windows network detection, which scans the network once per 15 minutes.

Tried and tested.. Left my PC on for 4 hours but no avail. Seems like its only 1 PC that is affected, the other 64 bit is working atm.

Systems have all been restarted.

Error code is Network Path is not found...

just a thought,
so firewall is off, sure? all of them as win7 uses two firewalls,
one for local network and one for public networks,
plus maybe you also have a third party firewall
which you momentarily switched off?

plus could you describe all devices in your network here
with their ip address plus the dhcp range of your router?

this can be no more then just a small issue,
we just need to see it,
so the more info you can give the faster we can help solve it ;)
no need to mention that you DO NOT place any mac addresses here
they are personal and unique,
also any ip addresses from the wan site of the router also keep them to yourself,
only interesting are the local ip addresses of each device router included
plus maybe the subnetmask.

;)

Both Windows and Norton Firewall is off...

I believe its something to do with Windows, from my research from the internet, but i don't know what.

Router/Gateway Address: 192.168.1.254
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Private Network DHCP Info:
Primary Range 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.127
Secondary Range 192.168.1.128 - 192.168.1.253
IP addresses

PlayOnHD:
192.168.1.64

PC 1 (32 bit Win 7, Wired)
192.168.1.25

PC 2 (32 bit Win 7, Wired)
DMZ mode, shall not reveal IP, but map is working

PC 3 (64 bit Win 7, Wireless)
192.168.1.50

PC 4 (64 bit Win 7, Wireless)
192.168.1.34 --> Mapping is not working

PC 5 (32 bit Win XP, Wireless)
192.168.1.107

With some other smartphones IP addresses, I guess you don't need those?

it seems you use static addresses (due to the numbers that are not following each other)
are the static addresses handled by the router (or setup in the router) ?
if not place them outside your DHCP range.
you say you have two dhcp ranges ?
could you explain what you mean by that.

normally static addresses should lay outside the dhcp range
if they are set in the devices themselves.
otherwise the router could give another device the same address
i would set the dhcp range from
192.168.1.128 to 192.168.1.253
and use 192.168.1.1 till 192.168.1.127 for static use.
so all devices set to automatic address will be given an address from the dhcp server
from 192.168.1.128 to 192.168.1.253
all devices using static you give them any address from 192.168.1.1 till 192.168.1.127

so just one DHCP range not two if that is even possible.

;)
