Ok apologies, Kurt - you are going to use the analogue video input on the PVR-150 - not the tuner section!

There are probably cheaper USB-stick video/audio capture dongles out there, but then you have the problem of finding drivers for a linux-based PC, so the PVR-150 is a good choice for compatibility, even if it's a little long in the tooth.

@prie77 - I've been looking at ION PCs also - some nice neat packages out there, but then you have to source a suitable USB stick DVB tuner which is compatible with MythTV as an addon.

ACRyan are really in the "last chance" saloon with this box at the moment so the next firmware needs to be really solid...

After just more than one year of constant issues of PlayonDVR!HD I'm also moving on. It's been far too many issues. Hopefully I'll get a buyer for this used piece of junk.

What I need is a reliable media player that:
- has nice, inuitive and fast GUI
- has good connection options (and with expected performance)
- has DVB-C (and DVB-T) TV option
- handles torrents well
- supports Logitech Harmony One remote

So after looking arroung, I went for Asus S1 nettop, 4GB RAM; 1.5TB disk, Win 7 x64, Cynergy HTC HD USB stick and Media Portal software.

So far looks promising, some tweaking with codecs was needed but at the moment it's quite nice. If I didn't have the need for TV, I'd probably go for linux/XBMC.

since there are rumors about realtek retiring the platform, could acryan push them to release the toolkit and docs for it. open source it maybe. there certainly are lots of people (myself included) who would love to play with it. maybe port xmbc or vlc and use it instead of dvdplayer

Firmware is fine.. pleasant GUI interface upgrade but has few bugs..
Please read earlier posts to familiarise yourself with bugs and issues before deciding whether you want to upgrade or wait for another release..

This 5440 version of firmware is very unstable and causes many bootloops.
