Hello !
I bought my Essential in the beginning of this year and even bought the wifi dongle (which i never got working properly) i can connect to internet but the samba share doesnt work.
I`ve asked for help but i didnt get any and now my patience enden.

Is it possible for me to return this product to the shop with your help (It is a shop called" net on net " an its located in malmoe sweden.

Maybe you can recommend another product in your line that really working?

btw we got something in sweden called konsumentverket that support buyers if trouble appears with selling companies.

Samba will not work on the Essential, because the Essential was designed as a simple device without network functionality. If you can access the internet, your dongle is OK.
For network functionality you should have bought the Playon HD or HD2.

As the website says

The Playon!HD Essential is designed for users who prefer an easy to use media player without the fuss of networking. Setting a new standard of performance in the class of media players with no network

So if thats the fact ?
Why selling a wifi dongle for it ......and
have a function for samba on and off in the meny?

The dongle is pure for internet radio and some internet feeds not for transfering files

The samba function is vissible but can not be turned on

If you read the specs you could know that this was a non networking device

@ Kraakie + Duivels, Playon!HD Essential does have 'Setup>Network'Samba' feature. It should also work to browse/share samba shares to and from the Playon!HD Essential.

Please try the following to sort your problem. Download this firmware -> http://www.acryan.com/downloads/PV73500 ... ropean.zip

and install this version using the following method:

Safe-mode flashing procedure:
1. Download and extract the .install.img and bin.wifi.zip into the root folder of a USB-stick. Make sure the USB-stick is formatted to FAT32.
2. Insert the USB-stick to your player.
3. Shutdown the player.
4. Press and hold down the power button in front of the player for 15 seconds.
5. Your player will restart and install the new firmware.

**Do not power off the unit during the flashing process!**

After you have installed, please make sure you have 'Setup>network>samba on'. Then make sure you have your USB-dongle with the product number: ACR-WN10002 (if you have another number on the actual USB-dongle, it will not work!) and with your remote control go to: 'Setup>network>wired installation' and if your router/ssid is transmitting, you can connect to this and enter your key to your local network.

If the above does not work, please let us know what you have done and exactly what goes wrong.
