Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
Your post was off topic, because it was not related to firmware 5440.

I have copy the original HomeMenu.rss, LatestAddMovie.rss and LatestAddMovie.rss from /usr/local/bin/home_menu/scripts. Then I have decrypt the rss files and studied it. Wrote my new stuff in it and wrote new rss-scripts for new Speziel Home-Setup. Make a new folder on /usr/local/etc with the name home_menu and a folder in this with the name scripts. In this folder (/usr/local/etc/home_menu/scripts) are my new rss-script. Then overmount with rcS. A few more little things must be done. Then I will introduce it in Other Developments. But I need a few more beta tester, in particular user with a HD1, HD2, mini1, mini2. Maybe also essenential weenn it works with her new FW. After the beta a few new graphic arts and make FW new. And a Translator from german to english. But this is OffTopic here. If there is interest further by PM but then unfortunately in german. Greeting Steffen .

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
With regards 5440 firmware / hardware issue I would just like to see improvements made to the wireless support.
Using the AC Ryan dongles in 2 different boxes I've gone to hell and back to get some kind of stable environment.
Can the device not buffer if wireless support is so bad?
Strangely I can use the same dongles on Win7 and WinXP and the transfer rates are very good from the location my Ryan boxes are placed.
All files are from a FreeNAS box with 8Gb of RAM which shows no issues.
I'm currently pricing up data cabling my house to get around this problem!!!!

I see there is a firmware update for the AC Ryan Playon!HD Essential so is the new version of the HD Mini 2 also imminent?

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
so, now after three months waiting we get [Beta] Firmware_Playon!HD Mini2_PV73800_v9.5.5.r6629. A buggy beta. I am at a loss to understand why your development is so slow. Its not like this is really complicated software development. How many devs are working on this? Is it some guy doing it at the weekends in his bedroom? Why don't you open source your code so others can contribute?

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
Reboot loop for me with the latest beta firmware and I honestly wasn't expecting that. Returning to the previous Playon!HD2 5440 firmware instantly solved the reboot problem and now its working again.
While people often seem melodramatic on internet forums, its hard to find a reason to not be upset in cases like this. I understand its a beta but I don't expect a reboot loop right after it displays the main menu.
After all of this time and issues that should be ancient history by now, its not good enough.

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
Too bad we can't complain about a firmware in the firmware section. I personally think, when you have a complain about a firmware, thats the place. The only thing is that when you complain there your message's will be deleted by the moderators. I think that's not the way it should be. I think You should be able to say something negative about the firmware there. Only positive message's will remain.
Hopefully a new firmware will come shortly... And all my complains will go away without the help of the moderators...
