Quote: AAC multichannel is not a passthrough format. You will need LPCM multichannel for that via HDMI. In your optical setup it's only possible to downmix to stereo. Sorry for that but you will also find information about aac multichannel together with SPDIF on google for better understanding of the problem.

But in the Box Said support AAC 7.1 (Passthrough / downmix to Stereo), why you just said different from what AC Ryan Promote in their Box? Secondly a have movie with AAC 2 CH or 6CH and i set audio downmix but the audio volume is really small event i already maximize the volume on my Player, why it's happen? is it really Play ON Essential doesn't really support AAC Audio, because with AC3 and MP3 it's fine. Please inform us Thanks

Re: [Official] Firmware Release PV73500 v5.4.4.r2688
Version v5.4.x r2688 what’s new in this release
1. Added an autorun function to playback your video or audio automatically after the unit is booted up - Create an 'autorun' folder (all small letters) on your internal HDD/external storage device - Place your media in the autorun folder in your own alphabetical order - The media will automatically start playing in the same sequence when the unit is booted up 2. Added firmware compatibility with new Realtek 1055 chipset 3. Improved various menu language translations and OSD errors 4. Improved compatibility with various languages in ID3 tags 5. Fixed info bar unable to auto hide when displayed during video playback 6. Fixed wrong information displayed when a delete, copy or move operation is done
I havent update yet, but did they fix these issues: - Thumbnail view not showing the right thumbnail when scrolling up or down through your files. Because of this I'm not able to use the player with my photo collection.
- after showing a picture, pressing stop or return sometimes shutdown and reboots the player.
- Pressing Menu-button during movie playback should not pause the movie.
- While pressing Audio- or Menu-button for the second time the selection menu disappears, but Subtitle- or Goto-button don't. Please let them disappear the menu also.
- Custom background not shown when booting the player, going into submenu and than back to homemenu restores the background.
- Pressing Home-button gives delay of several seconds before showing Home-page.
- During picture viewing: If pressing Enter to view a picture, slideshow viewing should not start. This should only start after pressing the play-button.
- When pausing the slide-show, pressing next- or prev.-button should only show the next or prev. picture, not restarting the slideshow.
- MP3 tag shows cover-art if included in the ID3-tag, but during playback of the mp3 the cover-art disappears. If no cover-art included the shown icon is wrong (video instead of music).
- Starting movie or music file gives no audio during first 1 or 2 seconds.
- If you don't setup a screensize in the setup - video settings, the player hangs when using the zoom-button. (Initialy the screensize is set 0,0 which is wrong.) I don't understand the need for this setting at all.
- DVD menu shows up in 4:3 instead of 16:9
- get rid of the stupid useless autoscan which make it impossible to use the Movie, music and Photo menu's in a useful manner. Now it is only possible to use the filemanager.
- Instead of this give us the possibility to use configurable shortcuts to folders.
- Adjustable subtitle language preference, so you don't have to select the prefered subtitle language each time you start a movie.
- Spin down time off internal HDD is to short, so lots of time you have to wait for spinning up after pausing a movie for a few minutes. Please make it longer or adjustable.
- if no wifi-dongle plugged in, don't show network functions.
- When in filemanager, I should not be able to see and go into hidden or systemfolders.
- In the setup-menu, the use off the prev. and next buttons should not be neccesary, only the cursorkeys can do the navigation to make it more intuitive.
- When navigating through your folders in filemanager, left and right cursor can be used to go down and up a level in the tree.
- Some fonts are to small to read from a normal distance.
- Write a decent manual.
I don't use a wifi-dongle so i cannot say if ther are any problems with this.

Re: [Official] Firmware Release PV73500 v5.4.4.r2688
Evoline, thank you for copy/paste my old bug/wish list but better tryout first and then make a new list. I installed the update. For me the most importent bug was the thumbnail view, and that looks ok now (while a bit slow). But as far as I can see most of the other issues hasn't been fixed/implemented.
Then about the new implemented autorun folder: Who has ever asked for it? I don't see why sombody want to play the same media every time he starts the player.
So ACRyan, good start but better fix the other bugs and improve the GUI first instead of implementing useless new features.

Autorun is not a feature that can be removed. Just don't create the autorun folder and you will never notice it. And on the priority list the Essential is dead last apparently, looking at the number of updates. Sad but true.

Re: [Official] Firmware Release PV73500 v5.4.4.r2688
I have two main problems I mailed them long time back;
1. Player restarts when I press zoom button when playing a HD movie. 2. Subtitle vertical location cannot be saved. reset to 0 each time players starts.
sad to say both problems exists on the new release. and the other thing is "resume play" doesn't work at all.

Please inform us Thanks didn't say anything else that on the box. For AAC Multichannel files you will need HDMI / LPCM Multichannel Setup since it's not a passthrough format. Via optical it will output in stereo since it cannot PASSTHROUGH. To your 2nd problem you mean if you downmix to stereo the volume is very low? How are you connected than hdmi / optical? br,
