Post How to format USB HDD within POHD
I just can't seem to get my POHD to scan the movies on my external HDD anymore - it was formatted on my PC, but worked fine until I detached it from the POHD and attached it to the PC to transfer some movies over. Now the POHD doesn't see the drive at all.

Reading some other posts on the forums, it seemed like a good idea to reformat the drive within POHD, however the format option in the System Settings menu does not exist on my player. I'm using the latest firmware - has the format option been moved elsewhere?

The player does not support formatting of external drive but only internal installed drive. I suggest after you tried formatting it via your PC please do scan the external drive. You have to make sure that the scanning feature of the box is enabled.

OK, thanks for the reply - the drive was previously formatted in Windows 7, and when I first plugged it into the POHD a week or two ago, it worked fine - it was seen by the POHD, and any movies on it were scanned and were playable.

I disconnected it, and attached it to my PC to transfer some more movies over, and the problem I now have is that the drive is no longer seen by the POHD. I have tried forcing a scan, and I've tried enabling auto scan, but nothing happens. If I plug a USB pendrive in, the POHD sees the pendrive, scans it, and lets me play movies.

I've tried reformatting the drive in windows 7, and copying the movie files back onto it, but the POHD still just ignores it.

What am I doing wrong?

I can only suggest to change the USB cable and try it out. You can also check the file system on the USB drive when it was formatted, usually NTFS/FAT32 are the fefault for Windows. Sorry for any inconvenience.

OK - was confused by the numerous HDD problems people seemed to have, to which the answer always seemed to be to format the drive in POHD. I eventually got this to work by myself, God knows how, though... trial and error.
