Hi,

thanks for the info. Can't see anything suspicious on that file. Would it be possible to send a short sample ? With http://www.wetransfer.com you can send files and can send it to my mail. We can than check it here if it's file related or maybe VEOLO. We tried alot of .mkv's here as well and so far had no issues playing them back.
Any error message or what happens if you try to play it ?

cheers,

I can confirm that this doesn't work but the problem is:
Format : Matroska
Format version : Version 2

which seems to have problems with media players. I have forwarded this to our developers team right away to check if there is anything we can do to improve the playback of those.
As workaround you will have to convert it to the normal mkv format profile not using mkv version 2.

Sorry for the inconveniences this might cause to you.

best regards,

Hi again,

i have a little addition to make here. With some help we were looking at this again and the file has multiple subtitles embedded ( like x30 .srt). After remuxing this file with mkvmerge without the subs it plays on the Veolo. We will try to check on some more files or to get more samples.
So if anyone else has problems with those files check with mediainfo and mkvmerge if a remux helps.

mkvtoolnix package (including mkvmerge) is free avail: http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoo ... loads.html
mediainfo: http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en

cheers,

Remuxing is an additional step, even if it is relatively fast. People buy a mediaplayer to play their files as they have them, not to use other software on it. Surely the situation with Android has become better when it comes to changing software? I understand the limitations with Realtek based players, but modifying this player to be able to handle these MKV files should be straightforward, right?

Well read above, this particular file which doesn't play is very strange. If you remove the subs it plays. I couldn't find any other file that has this kind of settings with 30 embedded subs. Will still check further though and also have forwarded this as i also mentioned already.

Because it's a pc and supports hacked codecs and whatnot so on a pc you will always be able to playback everything unlike on media players. Of course if you're into android coding etc. you might even wanna get your own codec package ready compiled.
