Re: Difference between hd mini1 and hdmini2
They can both play all kind of media files
But the Mini2 has a faster cpu and more memory.
Also some more internet fucntions etc.
It's simply a upgraded version of the hd1

Re: Difference between hd mini1 and hdmini2
Mini 2 also has 1Gbps Network connection. Mini 1 is only 100Mbps

Re: Difference between hd mini1 and hdmini2
Well AndyA, that's not the entire story. Gigabit LAN on the Mini2 only works for the streaming part, not for e.g. file transfer. The 100 MBit LAN in the Mini1 should be more than sufficient for most HD content, but the LAN implementation in the Minis is not great. Even the faster CPU in the Mini2 makes it only marginally faster in file transfer than the Mini1. So don't expect 20-30 megabytes per second, more like 4-7. Using USB for file transfer could be the faster way. One MAJOR disadvantage is that the Mini2 only has the new GUI2, the Mini1 can have the older GUI1 as well. Lots of people complaining about GUI2. Slow and unstable network, slow menus... just read the forum. So Mini1 could be the better player after all.

I have the hd2 which has the same cpu as the mini2 and i have speeds of 9 MB/s The key is to use good network hardware and good settings/parameters Gigabit router in my case a Linksys E2000 cat6 cable Latest networkdriver installed Try some tweaking tips and tricks

Re: Difference between hd mini1 and hdmini2
That's exactly my point. If you get 4-7 megabytes/second on a Mini1 and only get 9 on a Mini2 people are bound to be disappointed. You claim to have a fully optimised network, with other players people get faster transfers using standard equipment. Getting 9 megabytes/second using Cat6 cables and tweaks and tips is not something to be proud of.

Im just saying it's possible on the hd2 On the Dvr-hd i get speeds of 5 MB/s On the HD1 you should achieve speeds of 4,5 MB/s

Re: Difference between hd mini1 and hdmini2
Well I seem to have touched a bit of a sore point here. I should probably have added that just because something has a 1Gbps port, don't expect that you can acutally drive 1Gbps through it. There are many other factors. But, as kraakie points out, the Mini2 is a improvement onf the Mini1 Andy

Re: Difference between hd mini1 and hdmini2
My comment was in no way an attack on you Andy. But yes, the gigabit port was another case of poor marketing by AC Ryan. This claim leads to certain expectations and in many cases disappointment. The "for streaming only" part was added to the specs only after some customers complained. Just want to avoid people choosing the new model for fast file transfer only to find out copying their BluRay ISO will take three days Personally, I never saw the big advantage of the new players, but that is something everyone can decide for themselves.
