I have the same zoom issue.

The zoom function is the only function that enables a DVD iso spread on the screen.... Very weird since when I use that function for some DVD's subtitles fall off. Its not consistent, varies per DVD.

Also, when used one can no longer scroll forward in the movie using the jock shuttle. If used, it will move the picture from left to right in stead of popping up the scroll function.

I almost forgot about this silly bug, again sloppy programming.

I noticed that several movies look quite blocky on the playon. But stangly enough they are smooth on my pc. Anyone noticed this before. Can this issue be related to a maximum supported B/R frames in mkv.

The movies are in SD and have 16 B/R frames.

Theopolis,

Nope, can't share that experience. Must confess most of my content is of better quality, but I also have Divx movies being about 1 Gb and having a quite low quality. Maybe the difference is caused by the size of the screens, pc vs. big sized tv screen?

I'm just reading through this post now and am simply amazed that AC Ryan are not making it a priority to address the bugs which are so very clealry pointed out by there customers.

I have had my HDPO2 for 2 months now and every day think about returning it. I know many of the issues people are talking about I experience them too but here are a few additional things that simply driving me crazy.

- Soooooo Unresposive. The unit is so slow. Going between screens takes much longer then other devices on the market. I have had to disable so much of the unit's features just to get it to a stage that is at least usable. All the hard disk scanning components must be disabled.

Members of my family simply refuse to use the PO2 unit, they find it slow, the remote control unresponsive, the interface unintuitive, and they really don't like that there are no calendar entires to easily identify new movies as we have had to disable the autoscan, It's just to slow.

Again I cant believe ACRyan are focusing on adding features in firmware rather then getting this device to a fast and stable experience for there customers.

Last night I tempoaraily disconnected the HDPO2 and plugged in my old WDLive. Instantly I was content. The WD Live is quick, the menu structure is intuitive, and it just works, no wired reboots or lags.

Come on AC Ryan start listening to your frustrated customers and make it a priority to get a firmware release ASAP that addresses so many of the issues brought up in this post by your paying customers.

Only if the new WD Live hubs had USB 3 and support for larger hard disks I would have never been in this dilema.

Hey swanny,

Look at the numerous posts about new firmware. No one will give a date unless it's coming in the next couple of days. And don't blame the mods, they only get beta versions for testing and give their feedback to the development team. AC Ryan's policy on firmware has always been like this and will probably never change. The customers don't like it, but they don't seem to care. Deadlines, milestones, project planning...must be new concepts. :?

Well Vanhal thats your opinion.

We have a permanent test group for alpha versions
And Acryan Do releases beta versions and get a lot of feedback from the users

This already have resolved some bugs due to the users repsonse.

It's to bad you are not satified with the product and sure we had some rough problems but so far i can use my playon!hd2 fine and are still happy with it

And im also a customer btw. And i like the product.

It's not about opinions but about facts and trying to polish up the situation only makes it worse. The firmware is not ok, there are multiple major bugs. The initial firmware was so bad it should have never been put on the market. ACR did bring out new firmware releases and solved bugs, but still the firmware is unstable and contains multiple major bugs which should never have passed any test team.

For 169 euro's a stable media player is what customers expect..... that plays all media formats without problems (reboots, no sound, no subtitle, etc)... That has some working music library functionality on board, not the one that makes your media player crash..... A player that lacks reboot loops, is consistent in its firmware upgrade behaviour. A GUI that reacts responsive on user interaction, has stable network functionality such as NAS / Samba, etc.....

Well, not too much to ask.... I guess... Still, the POHD2 lacks it, which is clearly indicated by the low number of messages in the boards... The POHD and Miniv1 were good, the v2 products clearly are less popular and its poor fw quality has big negative impact on ACR's name in the market. You can only loose a customer once....

Hi Kraakie,

We had many discussions about the POHD2 in the past and nothing changed...
  • There is no serious testing - otherwise there were not that many issues in the new firmwares, testing is a real job - there are many books about it
  • No deadlines on new (improved?) firmwares - every projectteam has to have their projectplanning, otherwise no deadlines will been kept
  • There is still no updated version of the user manual
  • Most of the time the built-in firmware updater doesn't work, instead we have to use safe update method and loose all presets
  • With some issues we were advised to remove built-in HDD to solve problems???
  • Built-in option to copy files from USB-drive to internal drive results into a reboot loop, till r3966 it was no problem
  • All the listed issues in this forum, there are too many to list here

With the introduction of the new player (VEOLO) I loose every hope on solving the problems in the POHD2, the developers have a new toy to play with.

I share the concern of Gabsor on missing functionality and stability of the firmwares.

Many of the former buyers of the POHD2 are now selling their unit on sites as marktplaats.nl and ebay, taking their losses and buy a sensible player with full support, a player which meets their basic needs or a mini PC. I don't think ACR wanted that in the first place.

So ACR is losing their credibility and instead of solving the problems with the POHD2, they are introducing a new platform to develop on.

Well they are still keep on developing for all platforms so a new player doesn't mean no updates for older players
I can know that because im in the test team
And i personally tried al kind of realtek players x-treamer mede8or etc and they all experience all kind of problems inlcusing ones that are also present on the acryan.

And also sigma players have all kind of bugs and problems

So if you really want no headache build a htpc (mediacenter)
But thats more money to invest then a mediaplayer

Yes, its a known bug and there is no bux but only a workaround:
1. Remove the .Theatre files
2. Run check disk
3. Take out the HDD and put it back in

I also used to reflash the firmware.

Silly bug, don't use the local copy command... Only by use of a laptop / pc as a usb to usb hub.
