Post I wasted by money on the Playon!Hd I fear
Good ideas, awful design, terrible support.

I really hoped, 18 months ago, that the POHD would be an 'all-in-one' solution for everything.

My fears were first raised on day 1, when I first set it up. The remote contr
ol is an awful piece of design - buttons are all over the place, any industry standard for button design or layout quickly discarded, it seems. The buttons shown in the on-screen setup, on the remote control, and in the accompaning manual DID NOT MATCH UP, meaning I had to setup the thing 'blind'.

At this point I thought (ha!) that a firmware release will be releasewd these little 'problems' - and it did, but in fixing one problem it did, but a lot of the problemes, it didn't. New errors would come with every new release, every FEW MONTHS.

But would AC Ryan solve the 'problems' before anything else? Oh no, they'll churning out a new product every quarter (or so) - claiming tha the ne product would do everything the PVR73100 did, and more! (I wonder if the owners of these other products can share the same stories as mine!) I'm sure the PVR73100 is now at the bottom of the 'proplems to fix' list.

So now, 18 months later, my media center is nothing but. The UI is slow, inconsistent and doesn't do as it's meant tto. It's certaintly isn't something my family can use, I do everything for my family - even play a movie. So ,I'm looking for a new media centre. Again.

Unhapply customer.

Hello Dedlite,

Thanks for your feedback and I'm sorry that you have this opinion.

Regarding the remote control, this we can't really change since the release of the product and if you had major issues with this you could have checked this before buying or noticed the button layout the first days of using this and avoided this issue by not buying the product.

If our manual has some wrong button layout, then this can be due to our frequent updates of firmware and the manual does not keep the same speed. We encourage to use our direct email, phone or forum support for these kind of questions.

If you main issue is 'speed' and responsiveness of the GUI/interface. Then you can use the older GUI that demands less resources and a lower resolution menu (for instance r.4824), or use our latest firmware r.5440 with 'Autoscan' turned off, and the menu will be quicker in loading times. You then have to use the 'Files Manger' or even better the 'Shortcuts' to access your local and network stored media. If you set up a shortcut for your family, then it's not many button presses to access your media, and there simply press 'OK/Enter' button on the file you want to play.

There are and will be some bugs present with the variables that this product can do, but in many cases we can try to give solutions, and in some cases we can't.

Br,

Unfortunately I do share this opinion, since I have bought my POHD 6 months ago it doesn't do what I want it to do either, spent a lot of hours and a lot of headace on it however it's still not working right. I don't really mind about the buttons or the manual, however for me the network just can't get working properly, the POHD can't handle having a network and moving files. Also I do really not agree with how the POHD is advertised, for me it's not easy to set up at all, I have been busy for so long, and maybe my problems are problems with setting up. Also I have been able to set up a lot of other devices just fine.
Also I am worried about what will happen with the PVR73100 with so many other and new products being brought out bij ACRyan, will there ever be a version which will eliminate the worst problems and make sure it's a good device to work with? The POHD had/has a price from which you can expect more than what I have got, I must say the VEOLO in functions looks really nice(I do miss the option to put in an internal HDD though), but that one as well does cost a lot of money apart from that I don't know if just buying a new ACryan product would get me a good media player.

But a positive thing is that I do really like the forums, all the helpfull users and moderators do really deserve some credit for all the time they put in into helping the users, I think without them I and a lot of other people would have many more problems.
