Sorting .wav music files according to artist, album, genre
I am setting up my first AC Ryan unit, a PlayOn! HD2.
Unlike mp3, my .WAV music files do not have embedded ID3 tags. However, for the .WAV files I own, this information is available within Windows Media Player on my PC. Is there a way I can import this information into the PlayOn! HD2?
As things are, it is impossible to select songs to play by genre. The songs may be selected by album or artist by using the file manager to add the relevant folder to the playlist. This is extremely inconvenient and impractical. I will be very disappointed if there isn't a easier way for .WAV file users.
Thanks. Gibbon

Hello and welcome to our forums What you ask is only possible with external software like Windows Media Player, and we will not implement a software like this (not possible) to fetch information automatically from .wav files. This is possible on .mp3 files as they are 'tagged' within the files. Br,

Thank you for your reply, Mikael.
For your information, I have come across one media player which claimed to import WMP metadata. My mistake was to assume that this was the norm. Nevertheless, it would be counter-intuitive to think otherwise; a device should be able to organise the formats it can play. If I am not mistaken, I think the Apple iPod is another device which does this for formats other than mp3.
FLAC supports tags. When can we have POHD2 support FLAC tags?

Re: Sorting .wav music files according to artist, album, gen
Hello Gibbon,
No problem! Regarding the .wav files this is something that we have not planned in short future to implement, this is our developers choice and I can in this case only forward this information. I'm certain this would require our SDK developer to implement this feature, and therefore I'm not able say more than this would be hard for us to add.
When it comes to the implemenation of .FLAC files + OGG Vorbis comments, we have requested this from our developers and would definately support this with a future update if this is possible, right now I'm not sure about the status of this, but if possible we will have this in the future.
Hope this helps as I'm not able to give any timeframes.
Br,
