 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
After installing this new firmware, I have problems with the internal HD not being detected. I tried to restart my AC Ryan ACR-PV73700 Playon!HD2 several times without luck, then I decided to downgrade the firmware to the previous available version without any luck. The internal HD is detected once I install the firmware but once I switch off the device and switch it on again, it is not being recognised. I have never had this problem before and the unit has been working perfectly until this firmware upgrade. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! Thanks...
Max
P.S.: The internal HD is the original that comes with the ACR-PV73700.

 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
Just bought an AC Ryan. Upgraded to this firmware version when encountered several problems. With it comes more novel problems! Besides the issues described above, I also notice that my POHD2 does not go through an album/playlist without the "Replay All" option set. It just plays the first/selected track and then stops. I am surprised as it is the most basic of expected features, i.e. to play from a starting point and continue to the end of the list.
Also the "Rescan HDD" feature seems to be a crippled version of the "Auto Scan On" option.
There are so many outrageous bugs that I wonder if a whole new firmware/test team is required. The sales brochure whips up great expectations which are not met, or even considered misleading.

 Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440 - HELP!!!
Ive only just purchased the PlayOn HD2 and i havent even put any media on it yet, or set up FTP or anything else and already there are issues? Upgraded the firmware and then it was continually rebooting. Removed .theatre folder from memory stick and reflashed using power button method and at least its stayed on now. NOW! when trying to set up FTP i get $[unable_service] Perhaps i may actually get some media working i don't know? Steve

SEE THE FORUM!" and stick on AC RYAN products in stores... Maybe this would wake them up from their Cindarella dream...

 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
EDIT: even though I now have some problems which I describe below with the Playon! HD2, I've been using it for ~6 months now to extreme satisfaction! It's a very nice machine which does what it says at low cost. All people that are moaning about this product, go buy something 5 times as expensive and you'll still have lots of issues and stuff which doesn't work.
Anyway, my problem:
I'm afraid something went wrong with my POHD 2 while upgrading to v9.5.3.r5440.
What I did: 1. First tried to upgrade through Setup menu (stupid me for trying). The USB disk(2GB, FAT32, only file on the drive is the install.img file) started flashing for a while and the screen turned black - no image at all. After a while (~2 minutes) the USB disk stopped flashing. Still no image on screen. I waited and waited and finally pulled the power plug.
After switching the POHD back on, the screen kept showing the Playon! logo. I've waited at least 15 minutes. Again I pulled the power plug.
2. I put the USB disk in the POHD again, plugged in the power while keeping the power button pressed (safe mode flashing procedure). The USB drive started flashing and I got the installation progress bar on screen. This went way up until 100% and then stayed there. No other message. I waited and waited and pulled the power plug.
After switching the POHD back on, I got the Playon! logo forever. I've waited at least 15 minutes. Again I pulled the power plug.
3. I put the USB disk in the POHD again, plugged in the power while keeping the power button pressed (safe mode flashing procedure). The USB drive started flashing and I got the installation progress bar on screen. This went way up until 100% and then stayed there. I got the message "Installation completed successfully" (or something of the kind). The POHD rebooted and I got the Playon! logo. I waited and waited (more than 5 minutes) and pulled the power plug.
4. I connected the POHD as slave to my PC with the blue cable and deleted the .theater directory (as is mentioned in this thread). I repeated step 3 to no avail. Again it seems to freeze at startup while showing the Playon! logo.
What can I try next? All help is appreciated!
The only thing I can think of is downgrade back to an older version of firmware. Stupid thing is I can't remember which version I was using before to reasonable satisfaction. I bought the POHD 2 with this firmware. In any case, I'll go back to PV73700_v9.5.3.r3966, see if that'll help. If not, I'll go further back.

 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
Hi Fakir, The only things I can think of: Remove the installed HDD from your POHD2; Take cheap USB stick (there could be a problem with spinning up the USB-drive after upgrading the firmware) and put the img-file on that; Use the 2073 firmware first (most new bought POHD2's had that version) and go upwards; Install your HDD back into the POHD2. I hope this will help you Notice there are severe problems with file copy to the installed HDD in POHD2 with firmware 5440 and 5311 (reboot loop). Koos

Thanks Koboer! I haven't tried removing the HDD at all. I'll try it this evening and post the results. I'll keep the old firmware on it until a more stable version is released.

 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
Just two super features of POHD2 I encountered yesterday: - adding shortcut fails - reboot when trying to browse network device
Thank you, AC Ryan for the wasted time of mine again! And also for the silence and the ignorance that you just let your customers post their problems and you don't even care to give a shit... I will seriously consider taking my POHD2 back to the dealer within the warranty time and will forget this brand for all of my life.
