 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
I'm at work now, will try later, but I know there was nothing connected to the USB port when I tried to boot.
I also know that I deleted the .theater folder from the local drive after I disabled indexing. Would it create another one? Even with indexing disabled?
Will try ejecting the drive and see what happens.
Not entirely impressed with this box and may just return it to Amazon. It's buggy, crashes a lot and now has this reboot loop issue. All this in the first week, not good.

 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
Hi guys, I bought a new playon HD2 . I downloaded the new official firmware.
But im having errors.
Like when i press YoutubeXl it stops with loading 60%. First it was fine in the beginning it worked fine till it freezes one time and i diconnected the power supply. Since then i cant watch Youtube Xl .
The normal youtube didnt do it first, that work now when it freezes the first time.
BT isnt in the menu anymore.
Remember i saw al the features after the firmware update. After it freezes i cant seem find the BT and cant open Youtube XL
Is it best to use the beta version....or am i doing something totally wrong.
Thanks in advanced

can you switch off the player, remove the HDD from the EZ-Drive Slot and restart it? If it's still rebooting there's something wrong with the Software - in that case re-install it. If you can start now it is most likely related to the same issue as described in my post above. Connect it to the PC and really make sure there is no .THEATER folder neither on the internal HDD or on a USB Stick plugged into the player. This is something alot of people forget - if you flash the firmware from a USB Stick with a .THEATER folder the player will read its contents on boot even though autoscan function is turned OFF!
best regards, OK, connected the player to my PC and found a ".Theater" folder, not all caps...proper case. Deleted it and rebooted and all was ok. Seems my overnight file copy operations pretty much failed completely. Only 2 incomplete files. I tried to copy just one file, around the point I got to 100%, the box rebooted and was again in a reboot loop. This isn't going so good...

 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
Arne,
Why does the .theater folder can't be permanently removed on the HDD? Even if you delete it, it always goes back. Dowloading torrents, copying/moving files to internal HD randomly causes the player to loop reboot and every time that folder needs to be deleted.. So why not removed it permanently?????
And why do you always advise users to rollback to old firmwares??? Why release a new one in the first place if you still say at the end to use the old ones?
Another thing, just tried to play a movie from an external USB HD, and it was very slow... LAG!!
And please don't tell me that my external HDD is the problem coz it works fine before and still working fine on my PC.
Just so disappointed.....

 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
Can anybody recommend a firmware version that doesn't suffer from this problem?
I've been there about 12 times now and am now getting an access denied issue when trying to delete the .Theater folder. Can't get it to boot at all now, stuck in the loop.

After having my playon off and unplugged for 3 weeks it no longer boots to main menu. It only shows "Playon - Engage your Senses" and sits there. These devices had so much potential. Its a shame that AC Ryan doesnt hire programmers that know what they are doing. They can be rest assured that there will be plenty of folks out there reading these forums prior to purchasing a unit who make the smart choice not to give themselves an endless headache with this unit. Mikael/Arne - you guys are nice and I can see you are trying your best to help people. Why dont you put a word in to managment to fire your programmer and get someone who knows what they are doing? Do you two have any idea what kind of damage they are doing to AC Ryan's reputation?

hi... i've tried the new firmware. everything runs smooth.. however, i find that the new torrent client, transmission is not working well.. it says"no space left on device" minutes after the torrent uploaded and started. I'm downloading 6 GB file, and I have 989.8 GB left. What should I do? i'm using mac os and windows xp at the moment.

Not very happy AC RYAN ! Hello, I've had this happening to me as well 1x time. Not sure why this happens at this point. If you get stuck in a continues loop, then you can connect your Playon! to your PC with the USB-slave cable (blue one) and manually remove the '.Theater' folder inside the Playon!'s hard drive. We will naturally investigate this and try to find the source of this. Br, Hi All, I got the restart-loop thing happening, and found the cause, for me anyway.... In order to test how the Music menu would be presented, I converted one of my FLAC albums to MP3 in order to get ID3 tagged files onto the HDD, as FLAC tags are not supported. Anyway... after copying all new MP3 files onto HDD, and running a storage scan 'Rescan Storage', I got the reboot loop happening. Deleted the .Theatre file as prescribed which stopped the loop. *Might pay to note I had Auto Scan Off during all testing.... As soon as I ran a 'Rescan Storage', the loop started happening again. So I deleted .Theater again to stabalise. Re-ran the scan, to start the loop, and this time, instead of deleting .Theater, I deleted the MP3 album from the HDD.... This also stopped the loop I then began to re-load each MP3 file in on-by-one... and ran a 'Rescan Storage' every time as follows: Got tracks 1 to 10 loaded, no loop. Added track 11, and the loop started up again Deleted track 11, loop stopped Added track 12, no loop Added track 11 again, loop started. Deleted all MP3 files, loop stopped Added track 11 only, loop started again Deleted track 11 to stop loop, then reloaded track 11 without running a rescan Played track 11 fine through file manager, all ID3 tag info shown correctly. Copied track 12 ID3 tag to track 11, incase the scan just didnt like something in the tag. Ran a re-scan, loop started. So, it seems I may have a particular MP3 file which causes problems with the scan process. Would this file be usefull to tech support for further debugging? Hope this info helps in some way... Shane

Shane, Good work. Did you try renaming Track 11? Might be best to delete Track 11, rename it, and then add it back rather than rename it in situ. Stick with it.
