Is the NAS function (Samba) still very slow?
Will "PlayonHD" disappear from "My Network" after some time?

Is there a definite cure for it? Does the HD2 has this issue?

No one mentioned about the clock and time. True there's no built-in clock or battery to store current time/date after being on standby/off mode. But having to see dates like 1990, 2033 when I transfer files via network.

Initial there was auto sync time/date using network with time server. It was remove due to issues where not all users are connected to network.

I really wonder if HD2 is better in all aspects. Better remote control, faster wired network, better HDD bay and USB3.0.

Is it possible to have a trade in or replacement from PlayOnHD! to PlayOnHD!2?

With this firmware, I can not copy movies to my HDD(A.C.Ryan), or see movies from my pc.
The A.C.Ryan disappears every time from the network, only a reboot works(for a couple of minutes)

The Samba functionality is an on going failure with all releases to date. My findings are...
You must have a PC turned on on the network fro the POHD to see "WORKGROUP" once that has been estabilished you can then "see" non-PC network devices (in my case a Synology server). The POHD may spontaneously dissapear off the network. Transferring files of more than a few megabytes will cause the POHD to loose all network functionality which can only be reliably restored by rebooting the POHD, stopping and restarting the network service may sometimes work. The amount of data you can transfer over the network is totally random, sometimes it can be as much as a GB sometimes only a few MB. I only use wired networking for the POHD, others report the wireless networking to be even less reliable than the above description. Speed is an issue with every function of the POHD, I don't think anything will ever become "fast". At this stage I would settle for a stable network connection regardless of speed. :(

That's one of the key issues here Duivels... ACRyan mention lots of things

ACRyan take ages to sort any key problem out and usually introduce new problems if they do tackle one. As this is a Media Streaming device the Samba issue is pretty fundamental to the whole product. Without it, it is not actually a media streaming device at all.

To me this whole firmware setup needs a major rethink and rebuild to provide users with a stable , basic, functionality AND a straightforward and simple to use GUI.

This has been going on for 2 years or so now ? Peoples patience is amazing.

I'm not totally unhappy with the latest firmware to be honoust, we are getting somewhere, but encountered one issue...I hope someone can tell me
My hdd set up the normal way, three folders: Image, movie & music
How/where do i setup on the POHD what the Image directorie is? its driving me bonkers
same ofcourse goes for music and movie  and please don't tell me that it's checking the entire disc. (Then when I turn on scanning and the images get indexed, the jpg's from my thumbs are also seen as images and homevideos in the images directory are regarded as movies... )
I've tried allmost every firmware there is also the ones not from AC, but this one allmost works for me like a charm (eventhough the network functions are a b*%ch and the zoom function on my thumbs doesn't work??)

Hi, everybody!

I want to ask for help.
1.Most first tried with a USB cable plugged into the computer, but it tells you that an unknown device. What should I do?
Operating system: Windows XP - SP3
Firmware: r5440

2. If you know another Shopping frequently break down the connection. The router does not seem to!
When you reboot a mediabox, then again there is a connection. Too many tabs to dismantle. What's wrong? The mediabox static IP. There is another PC on the router. It's okay!

Help me please. Best regards, Luc.

The reason I bought a playonhd is because it can act as both a mediaplayer and a NAS.
I might had choosen Asus Oplay. But appearance, remote layout and awards from reviewers gave the point.

I don't think playonhd is the first network mediaplayer. But if it's the first in the market. I will gave them a chance to get feedback and improve on it. If it's the case, it's taking quite awhile.

Shouldn't more research and devlopment be done before releasing for retail? It full of bugs, old issues still unresolved. I used wired connection between my computer and Playonhd with a trendnet router.

I believe there was a non "+" inital model before this. I though after a 2nd model, things should be better. Even HD2 released. Even a non network model, esenstial was released. Shouldn't the same love be on the playonhd?
