Try to remove the .THEATER folder on the HDD, it was for me the right solution.

Post Subtitles not loading when many files in the same folder
Just installed this firmware. Everything seems to work, except the subs. I have around 70 movie files in the same folder, most with SRT subtitles. When i play movies that are not in the beginning of the list (alphabetically), the subtitles do not load automatically. When browsing for the available subtitle tracks, only those in the beginning (alphabetically again) appear.
Should i revert to 3966 firmware or is there a workaround?

Hello,

The Problems I Experience with this new Firmware v7.4.3.r5440 :- Sometimes a reboot when powering-on the AcRyan PV73100.
- Network Congestion message when trying to play Youtube or any of the internet Progs.
- DVD folders won’t play automatically anymore.
- Logitech Harmony response is slower than before.

Greetings,

.IDX + .SUB subtitles are not recognized at all for .avi and .mkv files. Pressing subtitle key shows "No Subtitles". Went back to r3966 and everything is working fine.

Mikael,

Autoscanning is off and I removed the .theater folder. To my surprise the .theater folder was back the next day. How can I prevent the .theater folder to be recreated automatically?

It seems that the .Theater folder is created on boot-up if it does not exist already. The database is then populated with some basic information about your disk partition and folder structure. If auto-scan is off, no further file information is written to the database. I don't think you can prevent this basic database being created. I would imagine (hope?) that the chances of this small database being corrupted are lower than if you have a large index of media files being auto-scanned each boot up.

I have all my movies in seperate folders.
If I select an .MKV file without internal subtitles the message says there is no subtittle available.
However if my file is "MyFile.mkv" and I have subtitle files "MyFile English.srt" and "MyFile Forced English.srt" it also says no subtitle.
If I rename one of the files to be "MyFile.srt" now the firmware finds both files as subtitles.
Normally subtitles would be found by a media player as "MyFile*.srt" allowing language specification to be in the "*" part of the match. I believe this is how the PLAYONHD used to be too. Somebody changed something they should have left alone. :(

I have also lost display of ThumbGen sheets :(

Can you do something about the USB prompt. Before if you connected a PC you just had to wait and the POHD would reboot and appear as a device on the PC. Now you have to turn on your television, fight with the brain dead dialog which wont accept remote commands for about 30 seconds and wait for the reboot. If I connect my POHD to my PC I want the POHD to switch to PC mode without delay. I do not want to turn on my TV just to fight with a non functional dialog, this is the worst "improvement" you have ever made apart form the 1001 improvements to crash the system.
Pressing stop to stop scanning is still hit and miss. If it does stop any activity on the remote seems to start it again. With the previous firmware I just turned off scanning permanently. If scanning is turned off then can you hide the first three menu entries which dont work when scanning is off. Otherwise allow the entries to work based on the last time a scan was done. That way the user could cause a scan when media was added and not have this awfully unresponsive system.
Like everyone else I'm still waiting for my NETWORK media player to work on my network. Come on guys as stated elsewhere other Realtek based media players work why not the ACR models? :?:
