Did you do a "safe mode" upgrade or USB upgrade? As I understand it the safe upgrade wipes all settings back to defaults, USB upgrade doesn't.

I usually do USB upgrades and don't have to set everything up again. So far I've not run into any issues (touch wood :D )

Ah, thanks, I didn't realise that. I always do Safe Mode as recommended but I'll try USB mode next time.

Well done on getting the 'Shortcuts' menu working - the wife hasn't touched the AC Ryan since I got it due to having to navigate through 7 'clicks' to get to the movie list or kids programmes.

Now it's Shortcuts..Movies and she's there - finally the £90 outlay gets wife approval! It makes the WD TV Live seem clunky now :-)

"Shortcuts" main menu button working?

I use a NAS and still have to access shares by using the "Files Manager/Network/My_Shortcuts". The shortcuts I add don't showup in the main menu "Shortcuts".

Is this only for local storage devices?

Hello,

Shortcuts work for local and network storage.

From the changelog in the first post:

11. Add Shortcuts function for quick access to your files/folders from the main home menu
- To add, press the MENU button during selection of your intended file/folder when you are in Files
Manager and choose 'Add to Shortcuts' option
- To delete, enter Shortcuts menu from home menu and press the RED button to delete the selected
shortcut

Hello,

The above is correct, but if you have any issues. Please safe-flash after to see if these would be gone. In some cases when we update firmware the safe-flash might be necessary the first time you install the firmware. You are free to use the 'USB/Menu-update', just remember that if you have issues, please safe-flash :)

Br,

YES! got it :D

I tried using the MENU button while I was in the 'My_Shortcuts" overview, rather than on the actual shares/folders.

Thanks Mikael

One potenetial issue with subtitle setting?

1) Set Subtitle to ON in Setup -> Misc
2) During a movie, press the Subtitle button on the remote to bring up the subtitle menu and select OFF.
3) Now the setting of the subtitle in the Setup/Misc menu also switched to OFF, and thus you cannot select any subtitle when playing another movie.

I prefer that the setting in the Setup/Misc menu should not be overridden?

PS: I noticed that the position and size are also overridden after each changes, but this is less annoyed than the ON/OFF setting.

Great job for this firmware release, loving it especially the Shortcut function.

However I manage to discover one bug related to how this new firmware reading subtitle files (srt, etc)

Let say I have one folder of full session of House (22 episodes), so it has 44 files (movie and srt files). On this new firmware, the Mini can only show subtitles up to 15 episodes, for the rest of episodes (16 - 22), the subtitle file cannot be found (when click on subtitle button, the error was No Subtitle).

However when I split those 44 files into two folders (folder 1: episode 1 - 15, with 30 files inside (avi + srt) and folder 2: episode 16 - 22, with 14 files inside (avi + srt)), the subtitle can be displayed for all files.

And some files didn't correctly displayed correct subtitle, sometimes it displayed sub from other episode. However this is not frequently happen, and fixable by choosing other srt file from Sub menu (still annoying nonetheless).

Previous firmware didn't have this bug, here's hoping ACRyan can rectify this in future release (or perhaps as fast hotfix, since i think this won't be eating up much of your resource to fix it).

Anyway, good job on the firmware release, looking forward for updates from you soon.

Hello,

Yes, this should not override, we have reported about the On/off issue. But when we test external .srt and put for instance 'Red' as color in the Misc menu, then it will be 'Red' when you start the movie + srt, but you are able to change.

Thanks for the feedback!

We are aware of all the subtitle issues you mention, and should be able to fix these, they are reported.

If you have more than 15 episodes with .srt files, then the player will not find the correct subtitle from name either, since the player cannot detect more than x15 right now, so they go a bit 'hand in hand' regarding this.
