Hi, this fw version seemed to work fine untill i turned on Samba and BT.

Since then the unit sometimes fails to respond to the remote controll after startup (blue led flashes, but nothing happens), unplugging the power is the only way to shut down.

Another thing is that the unit sometimes enters a reboot loop spontaniously . It keeps rebooting untill the power is removed. I never had this issue in any of the previous GUI 2.0 firmwares (beta and official).

Any suggestions (besides turning off Samba and BT)?

I seem to have the same problem. My unit keeps on rebooting, until you unplug the power, It's not responding to the remote, and it seems that the first 3 icons in the homescreen are darker then usual (like they are disabled). I tried a safe mode flash twice, but this doesn't seem to solve the problem. I'll try flashing my unit again today, and keep Samba disabled to see if this helps.

Hello,

@Awrin:
From the change log that you find in the initial post:

Note:
Smart Content Management ('Scan Storage' option) is now turned off by default under SETUP - SYSTEM menu

= This means that if you don't scan/index the files or access these until you turn on 'Setup>System>Scan storage', also the reason they are 'darker'. Keep Samba on if you want to show your storage on Playon!HD to other network devices.

@Jackster: We have noticed some issues with the scanning and the hidden '.Theater' folder that is created. If you get the loop issue. Please delete this folder either from the 'Setup>System>Clear History', or manually connect your Playon!HD to your PC with USB-slave and manually delete the '.Theater' folder from the root folder of the hard drive. You must have 'show hidden/files and folders' enabled in your OS.

We are experiencing similar issues and are currently trying to figure out why these scan or '.Theater' related issues appear.

For some reason and it's been awhile since i've done this since my Box is connected to my network but with this firmware i'm still getting crashes I tried to copy one of RIP's i just made and I copied it to my 16 Gig USB stick and then pluged it in to the box and tried to copy that way. No luck, it kept give me the X symbol at the top left which means I can't do it for some reason. Also one other thing to note is that each time I plug in my USB flash drive it says to restart NAS.

FIX this DAMN FIRMWARE!!!!!!! Serious this one and the one before seem to be the worst firmwares of all time.

Hello,

As reported before, we are also getting issues (crashes) when you use the GUI/Interface to copy TO the player, and it does not seem to matter from which source. In your case, I think you are pressing the wrong button? Are you pressing the 'Confirm' button on the file/folder you want to 'Copy'?

You can also watch this movie directly from the USB-stick, or use the PC environment to copy to the player as this seems to be more stable at this point.

The 'Restart NAS' is not a bug -> this is a indication, this happens every time you start the player, or insert a local storage so the USB or internal hdd will be shown in your network environment.

Thought I would try the new firmware.

It is currently scanning my 1TB HDD in the Play! On. How long should this take ? I have about 500gb of movies and music.

Initially when I checked after a short while it seemed to have lost all my first genre/level folders and just displayed the songs or movies. Can I assume that after scan it will retail all my genre folders that are in the File Manager ?

Also please, please remove the Recently Added sections on the home page from the next update. They are fairly pointless IMO and just cause everything to slow down whilst they load.

Br,

This is what i'm doing. I'm at my the file on my USB drive and I click the Copy button on the remote. I then push the select button on the file i'm moving and then I hit confirm. It then asks what i want to do and i hit move. It then brings up on where I want to move the file to in which case is my movie folder. I push confirm and I get the X symbol.

Well, I think the scan has completed...nothing to tell me that is has...

But all my films and music in the Movies and Music links are just in some sort of order and with no Genre folders or Album folders so every song is just listed in one enormous list...every movie is just listed in alphabetical order as are all the series episodes from the various TV shows I have. Its impossible to use like this, Its chaos.

Why doesn't the scan and these shortcuts retain the genre and Album folders that are in the file manager...its crucial and basic to every GUI on any device I have ever seen...except this one.

Everything is so painfully slow as well. I could accept some delay as I'm never in that much of a rush but I'm sorry, waiting 15 seconds for a Home screen to populate and then trying to fit a button press in between whatever else is going on is crazy. Sometimes it takes 4 -5 doen button presses before the "cursor" moves down one. And the failure to keep songs and films in their respective album folders/genre folders means I'm moving back to the Mede8er firmware again....

Thanks for your feedback!

I personally don't use the Autoscan function when I'm home either. I prefer to use Shortcuts together with my own folders, this is just one way of using the player, if you are not happy to use it like this, then you don't. You can press 'Menu' to get a few different views, but also of the cost of resources just as you mentioned.

What happens if you press the 'Confirm' button, select copy, and then find a destination, in this case your 'Internal HDD' and go inside this 'Interal HDD' and there press 'Play>' button to confirm? As long as your destination has full read/write permissions I don't see why this would not work.

Let me know if this is not the case for your.

Br,

I didn't realise you have to/can tell the player to put songs and films in the folders they are in when in the File Manager.... if thats what you are saying ? Makes sense.

I'll go back and check.

One key plea remains if that works OK...remove those "Last music/ film loaded" sections......please ?
