Hi Miakel,

how about these points:

1) There is no possibility to press MENU and Delete a picture when is showen in full screen mode

2) If I enter to folder with DVD Ifo files or DVD image file, than I have to chose crrect IFO file. There is missing function from old firmware version

3) YOUTUBE
After log in and choosing MY VIDEO, MY FAVORITIES, I see message NETWORK_CONGESTION
But no problem to play any common video or search and play a video.

4) PICASA
After login I see FINANCE_NO_PICTURE on each menu item

Hello Condor,

#1: You have to highlight the file you want to delete in 'Files Manager' and press 'Confirm' to delete. This is how the firmware works and will not be changed for now.

#2: If you have a DVD or Bluray folder structure. Just press 'Play>' button on your remote control and you don't have to look for the .ifo file.

#3: This problem is still not fixed. We require Realtek to solve this inside the SDK.

#4: Same as #3.

:( I KNOW, BUT THIS IS NOT COMFORTABLE, BECAUSE EVERYTIME YOU HAVE EXIT FROM FULL SCREEN.

OK, THE OLDER WAY WAS GOOD FOR NOT SKILLED USERS, YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER IT.

#3: This problem is still not fixed. We require Realtek to solve this inside the SDK.
OK

#4: Same as #3.
OK
Br,

tHANK YOU FOR YOU REPLIES

Dear ACR, I upgraded from 7.3.x.4824 to 7.4.x.3966 simply because my new WD 3TB harddrive was nog recognized by the 7.3.x release.
The 7.4.x release does recognize it, but... what's with the new GUI?
First of all, it is so slow. It starts scanning files and shows in the display that it does so. Why? It appears to me that this is the reason the GUI does not respond to the remote until several attempts have been made to stop the scanning. Annoying.
The hard drive contains about 2,5TB of data. I hope this has not suddenly become a problem for the Mini. The same data was divided over two drives when using 7.3.x.
When accessing 'settings' (if/when I eventually manage to get there! ) suddenly navigation is based on PREV/FWD buttons. Why....? This is terrible.
And like somebody posted here above, my biggest problem has become the wizard of wireless network settings. It seems impossible to connect to the fixed IP wireless network, which has always worked fine with the before releases. Now this has become impossible.
Finally the BETA version does not change anything to the problems mentioned here above.
I noticed several people saying 'thanks ACR for the beta, blahblah' but I refuse to be part of your test team. Honestly ACR I think it is outrageous you have released 7.4.x, apparently without thoroughly testing it, because it needs so many adjustments.
Now I have to either go back to the stable 7.3.x and copy the data back to the two before discs, or use 7.4.x with a lot of patience and no wireless connection.
I really hope ACR comes up with a thorougly tested and stable release very soon.

HI,

first of all it seems you are a bit confused by our new GUI which is understandable. Just as a hint you can use the Mini2 Manual to get more information on how the software works with new GUI.

To your problems:
1. the scanning option is a feature of the new sdk's from Realtek. If you do not like it you can disable it simply by going to SETUP -> SYSTEM -> Autoscan Storage -> OFF.
Also make sure to use the Clear History option in the same SETUP -> SYSTEM Menu. The player will work faster with that option set to 'off'.

2. Since the SDK has changed it is now not possible to set a fixed IP address. This has been addressed to Realtek since the beginning but unfortunately they didn't come up with a fix here yet. It might be possible in a future firmware release.
As workaround: most routers allow you to set the DHCP Server Range. So to still use fixed ips for the rest of your devices you could just give the dhcp server a range of 1 ip for the player so it can connect to it. All other devices in your network can use static IP's.

In general before blaming the software to be bad you have to understand how it works. Of course it causes confusion if you upgrade from older firmwares to the new GUI. Most users report though that once getting used to it it works nicely. I hope you will give it another try and after a day or two you also should be able to use it faster and better :)

best regards,

Well Arne, first of all thanks for adressing my concerns.
Must admit, turning of scanning and clearing history did help; the mini now does respond immediately to commands given with the remote. Also the DHCP solution works for me, although it really bothers me to have to turn on DHCP just to get a wireless connection with the mini. But I guess I'll have to write my letter to Realtek then.
However I do not agree it can simply be stated that all of this is because the new software/GUI can be confusing and one should try it for a few days. As far as I am concerned the device does not work correctly by default (that is, before changing some settings so the device responds to the remote).
Also it seems that some functionality is now lost. Like, where did the copy/move functionality go to? And it seems not to be possible anymore to change the resolution (16x9, 4x3, etc) during playtime of a movie.
Also I noticed that the device resets itself when setup is selected during a movie.
But I promise to read the Mini2 manual.

Thanks.

Why did you not upgrade to the latest available beta?

Turn the scanning of.

Don't DL or use BETA versions then.

And what would your solution be for those customers who pegged ACR to release whatever version, despite the bugs.

Should you have read all the messages in these threads or at least the release notes, you would have known about the problems you are having beforehand, to me you are blaming ACR for your own mistakes. I haven't upgraded my player yet as I don't see any benefit in doing so at this point.

Don't we all.

Nrde,

First I should upgrade to beta, next I should not.
Being an end user I should not have to read any forum posts or use any beta version, the first thing I did was to go to the support download page and download the latest stable release. Which apparently is not stable at all.

After that, just because I do am a bit of a geek, I tried the forum, took note of all the problems and tried the beta version. I adressed my concerns in the forum and as you in turn could have read, I was already assisted by a staff member. And also, I replied to him that his tips helped a lot.

On topic: 'those' people who 'pegged' ACR for a new version should perhaps use the new 7.4 release or its beta variant. I would have been more than happy with the latest 7.3 version, except that it does not recognize my new hard drive. Like I wrote before.

Cheers.

My rant related to the fact that you seemingly blamed ACR for putting out a beta version of their FW which caused you other problems when you used it.

The last stable FW was released before the new 3TB drives become widely available.

- you did not upgrade to the latest beta that was/is available
- you complain about problems that were mentioned in the release notes or at least in the first messages in threads about the new FW (slowness for example)
- the new UI wasn't actually kept as a secret was it? It was one of the main new features of the 7.4 series FW.

Yes, other people are using the new 7.4 version, so are you. Making the new 7.4 series less buggy would have meant there still would not be a 7.4 series FW and therefore you would have been out of luck also with your 3TB drive.

So maybe I'm just cranky old man, but I still don't like the style you present your problems and blame others of your problems. No one forced you to update and move your data to a new disk except you. I was surprised someone from the staff was replying to you in a civilized manner, opposite of your "problem report".

Everything in your message was already known (to me at least), except

Which is only an opinion.
