This is working with the latest Beta firmware. You can select "subtitles on" in Setup and (at last) they always display, be they integrated in a .mkv or .ts file or separate .srt.

Not if you have more than one media file and subtitle file in the same folder. I.e a season of a tv series...

I have a avchd docu Human Planet with 2 languages Dutch and English (in that order) and 2 subtitles one Dutch for the non Dutch spoken parts and one Dutch for the whole movie. It stand in a folder with seperate folders for each part such as Oceans / Deserts /and so one, 9 subfolders incl the folder the Making of. When I play a folder the mini(2) plays the first audiotrack, the Dutch one, and the first subtitle, the one for the non Dutch spoken parts, excellent. When I press also the "repeat all" function then when the movie is ending he plays the next folder/movie, with the first audiotrack and first subtitle, I like this cool feature. But when the mini2 has the BD Lite menu ON then the mini2 plays the English audiotrack and no subtitle at all, and with the "repeat all" he plays the same movie again. It's no great deal but I want to mention that the BD Lite menu ON not choose the right language.

Another thing is that sometimes when I start a movie, right after I powered on my Mini2, it spontaneously reboots and then I can play whatever whenever I like, that's a pitty not a shame, but I like to know why.

Also I like to know what's the differents between 12bits color and auto color.

I've just noticed that this is a new bug that they have introduced. In earlier versions of the firmware you had to enable the subtitles manually but at least it selected the matching .srt file. Not any more, it seems to pick a random one now.

My subtitles are in a sub-folder (.\subtitles) so it is essential that it finds the correct subtitle for the video but it can't even do that any more.

Sheesh! I'm back to wanting to stamp on this bl**dy box again!!!

I can confirm that turning BD-Lite ON will always play back the english audio track, no matter if I have encoded other language audio track as the first audio track in either .mkv or AVCHD structure.

@ACR, could you change this, so either the first audio track will always be played, or make an option so users can select which preferred language for audio when enabling BD-Lite? Thanks.

here's a little bug also there in previous versions:

- during a movie playback press PAUSE
- now REPLAY

pause simbol and black bar will stay there forever, until you stop playback and return to movie list.

I noticed a bug in the browser functionality last night.

When browsing a Windows Server share which uses a mountpoint rather than a drive letter, the Mini 2 will display and navigate folders but not display any files, and also displays hidden system folders (ie $recycle).

This version is much faster and stable. So far no network drops and hangs.. I was hoping to get two issues resolved:
1. UPnP play order - Using UPnP the song being played is different than the one displayed if track order is not alphabetical. E.g if track 1 is "Better than tomorrow", and track 2 is "always better", the track is always displayed alphabetically i.e. "always better" comes first, but when I play it, it plays the track 1, ie. "Better than tomorrow". It is finw if the tracks are "01 Better than tomorrow" and "02 always better".
2. Custom Genre - If in the id3, I add a custom genre, such as "NZ Rock", it comes as "Other". All other standard genres are fine. Lots of previous issues with id3 see to have been fixed though.

Hope to see the above fixed too.

The UPnP Bug is SDK related which means that we need some additional time to get this fixed. As for the custom id3tags - that's how the software works at the moment. You can use the standard tags as usual. We will keep this in mind for future firmwares but it's also not a very popular request and most users including myself tag mp3's to the pre-given genres like Rock, Pop etc..

Just purchased the mini 2 having used the mini for the last year.
So far everything is performing fine although i can't seem to notice any difference between the two models
