Can you try to safe-mode flash r3582 from our official support page and afterwards safe-mode install r3966? Also please try using another usb stick and format it in FAT32 without Quickformat.
NOTE: after how much time progress bar freezes? Can it be that the installation progress is already completed - so if you pull the power plug and try to boot it will it start?

br,

I tried to safe-mode flash r3582 , then safe-mode install r3966 without success.

Next try will with another USB key, classically formated.

The progress bar freeze quickly, she's completely filled with a first and a second time, but at the third time she freeze.

I did not pay attention at which it stops. I will do it later.

Denis

First install 4318 safe method
Then 3583 normal method
The unit can reboot when flashing 3582 and then continue flashing

This is because it updates the bootloader

If 3582 is working fine you can flash it to r3966 or r4585

Hi there,
I think the r3966 is the worst firmware ever! When installed your PlayonHD is very slow. You always have to wait after starting up for a number of things before you can use the system. I going to downgrade. I'm never gonna use this firmware again. I think i'm going to buy a different system. I'm tired of alle the problems.

Try disabling the autoscan storage function + clean the history. The player will run much more smoother afterwards - specially if you really have alot of stuff on your hdd. Stability-wise and also feature-wise this firmware should be ok to use for everyone. There is of course always room for improvement.
If you need any specific help you can always drop us an email or give us a call as well.

cheers,

Post Re: [Official] Firmware_PV73100_v7.4.x.r3966
Installed v7.4.4 r3966 a week ago - found the interface a bit sluggish, but learned to tolerate it. Last night on switching the unit on, got the message that Hard Disk (1TB) is unformatted and needs to be formatted. This is bad news to me as obviously the drive is not unformatted and furthermore contains the bulk of my (non-backed up) music and photos. Accessing the playonHD from the network shows USB connected device but no on board HDD...

Can this be at all related to new firmware, or is my HDD plainly stuffed? Seeing that I have zero knowledge of Linux, I am reluctant to remove the HDD, connect to a Windows machine and attempt a data recovery....Any leads?

Very pleased so far (am I the only one? )

With the previous release, I was having problems over the network with sound breaking up and stuttering video. That all seems to be fixed.

All I do though it have all my DVDs as ISOs on a network server. Use file browser to navigate and view.

I like the new Play to functionality with windows 7, mainly because playing MP3 from the Mini is so painful - why alphabetical order?

Only glitch at the moment is that the continue watching where you left off option seems to have disappeared. I can live without it though.

Hi!
When copying files over WiFi from PC to player speed up not more than 1.5 MB / sec. It's slow. On the previous firmware, this speed was 4.5MB / s.

I found this release to be sluggish and slow.
Delays even scrolling through menus
Takes about 10 seconds to enter the settings menu

Finally, this firmware automatically stops and restarts samba when I switch on my external HDD... big progress... however I have access rights problems on the external HD, some files or directories that can't be deleted anymore... tried to change authorizations from Windows but gives an error. How can I do a sort of chmod -R 777 at the root of the drive?

Also a bit of disappointment, it is not anymore possible to tweak image settings on the player (brightness/contrast etc..), which was very useful when used with my video projector..... will this be back in a future release?
