 OSX 10.7 Lion upgraders beware
Hi All,
after upgrading to OSX Lion GM on a Mac Mini my SMB shares are not at all visible on the Mini 2. The whole computer is not found on the network - in fact, if the Mac is the only computer in the SMB workgroup, the whole workgroup is not found by the Mini 2. Accessing my Mac shares from Windows and Linux machines is no problem at all.
So, I suggest if you are using your Mac as an SMB server for the Mini 2, stay with Snow Leopard until this issue is investigated and fixed by ACRyan.
@ ACR staff: if you need more info on this, I am happy to help!

Re: OSX 10.7 Lion upgraders beware
Similar problem, after I upgraded to Lion I can only login to my computer via the network, but when I try to access the folders on it that I have shared I get "login fail". Has worked perfectly until now. Just to make sure, I have tried with another Mac on the network (with Tiger X) and I can easily access everything on it. I have the latest firmware for Playon!HD Mini. Please help?

I suggest you contact Apple -- it isn't the Mini2 that has changed and broken what was working...
Perhaps they have added a new option under networking that alters the way it works with non-Apple devices?

Re: OSX 10.7 Lion upgraders beware
Apple has discarded Samba with Lion and has implemented their own SMB daemon. Obviously something went wrong in the process, but accessing Lion SMB shares from Linux or Windows OS's is no problem at all, and Media Player boxes have a history of being not exactly compatible with new OS's when it comes to SMB shares (research Win 7 and ACRyan), so.... I just wanted to warn you guys not to upgrade if it is vital to you, and ask for an analysis from ACRyan:

Re: OSX 10.7 Lion upgraders beware
Hi guys,
as you correctly noticed Apple has changed their Samba Service since their OS Version 10.7. As workaround you could try using a UPnP or NFS Server or just not upgrade yet to 10.7.
We have forwarded this to our developers to see if there is anything we can do to fix this.
Sorry for any inconveniences!
best regards,

I have upgraded to Lion also. Now via Network, none of my files are accessible. How do i setup a UPnP or NAS to access the files?

Re: OSX 10.7 Lion upgraders beware
Hi,
iam not too sure about MAC since iam not working on those machines but there should be a version of mediatomb or xbmc available for MAC which would act as a UPnP Server. Maybe you could try to google that. In Windows For example you have the Windows Media Player/Center included which acts as UPNP/DLNA Server/Client. Maybe some experienced MAC users can help out a bit here?
cheers,

Re: OSX 10.7 Lion upgraders beware
I have Majestic media server installed on my mac, very easy to use and only about €5 in the appstore. The only thing that bothers me is that now I can only fast forward 2x speed. When i streamed through normal network i could use all the options.

Can anyone tell me how to use NFS, can't seem to figure that out.
Edit: Never mind, got it to work with NFS manager. Much better, now I can fast forward again with 32x speed.
