I couldn't find any responses to this.. I have the same problem, and it's bloody annoying since it's unusable now.

In my previous firmware (which was the one the unit shipped with, bought in february), the unit would crash after a couple of hours of inactivity.

I followed the instructions to the letter. Should i try a previous firmware?

Try installing again with safe mode, if it still doesn't boot after 40 seconds go back to a previous firmware in safe mode.

I've heard of quite a few users (including myself) going back to previous firmwares because this latest firmware is causing problems. As its slower that the HD1 in booting up, systems not booting at all and (mine) usb mode not working correctly.

I've tried every single firmware except the initial one, which I would've tried if the link hadn't been broken. It never goes beyond the initial loading screen ("Playon! Engage your senses" or something like it).

As of now, all i have is an expensive brick!

The first firmware r1731 is working in the downloads. Have you tried taking the hard drive out and installing the firmware then letting the HD2 boot up ??

Reformat your usb stick to fat32 slow format

Then copy a lower fw version to your stick

Safe reflash it.
After that copy 3966 to your stick and safe reflash it.

See if that works.

Post Re: [Official Firmware_PV73700_v9.5.3.r3966
Okay I managed to screw up my installation of 3966 firmware.

I'm the proud owner of a HD2 since one day and decided to upload new firmware.
I missed the FAT 32 thingy and used a FAT stick.

I did the safe installation and I got installation error pls reboot.
I rebooted the system and I only got the splash screen.

I then installed initial firmware but to no avail I get installation error pls reboot all the time.
I have tried three types of USB sticks but the result always get the same.

Any suggestion how to solve the problem ?

Try redownloading the firmware again, as it might be a corrupt download image.

I've just downloaded the first HD2 firmware and its:
105.13MB or 110,247,936 bytes in zip size

unzipped:
113MB or 116,480 KB or 119,275,520 bytes in size

Also try formatting a USB stick in another pc to FAT32 then copy the install.img to root of the USB stick. Next follow the safe installation instructions.

Sometimes I've come across some usb sticks that haven't worked until they've either been formatted with their own software or formatted in XP.

Post Re: [Official Firmware_PV73700_v9.5.3.r3966
Guys,

I did an update on my AC RYAN PV73700 to get the child lock working. However if I change the default password to a random chosen password, my kids are still able to use the default password 0000 to unlock those folders. Strange enough my random chosen password also works to unlock the folder.

So updating the firmware was not very helpful.

Is there any way to remove the default 0000 password so that my kids are not able to access the protected folders using this password.

Thanks for your answer..

A suggestion. In the filemanager, when you choose all files, you only get to see movie, music and photo files. Please fix so you can se ALL files. Yesterday i was going to watch a movie, but i had forgott to rename the subtitles. On my old popcorn hour, i could see all files and rename them. So please add this function so i don´t have to start my computer every time.
