 HELP! File transfer speed slooooooow
Hi
I'm running latest firmware etc on my PlayonHD, and everything working fine except the file transfer speed over my wired network.
My comp/switch are gigabit, and I don't have any issues transferring to my NAS, but for some reason my transfer speed to my playon hdd1 isn't getting above 800kb/sec giving me an approx 9 hour transfer time for 1 movie file.
Anyone any suggestions, I know it's obviously something I've got set wrong, but can't work it out.
Thanks guys.

I have the same problem. When would transfer rate adjusted to a higher level.? when I transfer a Blu-ray disk it take 18 hours. the current rate of 1 mb/s is to slow, streaming is the best solution for now. but I wonder what the advantage is of a hard drive 2TB? john

Re: HELP! File transfer speed slooooooow
I could live with 4.5MB/sec but I'm not getting anywhere near that.
My NAS on the same network gets about 7 or 8MB/sec, but 800kb/sec is useless

What sort of speeds are other users experiencing?
I'm using Win7 64bit OS, wired network with gigabit switch.
Thanks

Re: HELP! File transfer speed slooooooow
I'm having the same problem since i upgraded to the pohg gui 2.0. The wifi is so slow and transfering a file from/to pohd is going at 8/45kb /s which is ugly rate. I was getting better rate with old firmware (>= 2MB/s). One thing strange too is that it seem the pohd is not able to get the best connection rate.
I have a rooter (the Freebox v5 which is a French only rooter) which allow wifi protocol up to 802.11n. The pohd use a usb wifi dongle 802.11n and i have a smarthone 'HTC Desire' which i presume is 802.11g or less.
Each time i use the wifi on the smartphone it seem the rooter is downgrading the protocol/rate to 802.11g (smartphone max protocol) which is normal according to the wifi standard.
The problem is once i disconnect the wifi on the smarphone, the pohd is not getting the best rate 802.11n and i have to reboot the rooter / pohd (boring).
This was ok with the old firmware and i was able to get correct speed ( >= 2MB/s).
This is no longer the case with the playon gui 2.0, the rate between my desktop and the pohd by wifi over smb samba / samba mount (linux) is ridiculous (does not get better than 45kb/s).
it's not possible to watch a movie by streaming on my computer by pohd streaming and can't copy files as it's taking ages and even lost connection to pohd.
What i can do ?? I remember in old firmware i was tweaking the sama file on my computer / pohd to get better experience.
Any help / hint appreciate.
Regards,

Re: HELP! File transfer speed slooooooow
I have the same issue. I transfer my files over Wifi. This always worked fine until I upgraded too 3966.
The Wifi (or samba) is very unstable. If it is up, it is very slow. I turned of QOS packet scheduler too in network settings. I use windows 7 and a D-link Dir 655 wireless router.
Please fix this.

Re: HELP! File transfer speed slooooooow
No it doesn't. It was a suggestion in the "How to" section. viewtopic.php?f=41&t=2449I still have the problem. What sucks because I really like the new firmware, but if this is not fixed soon I probably have to role back.
