You need to use a wired connection. For Wireless Transmission will not be able to be switched on. Also you need to use an internal HDD inside the player so transmission can download to that drive.

P.S. to avoid damaging the partly downloaded files try to pause the transmission downloads before powering off the unit. If you just power off the unit while its downloading it will result in corrupted files most likely.

best regards,

Ty, it works now. I dont had hdd in player.

Hi Arne,

I am still facing the same issue.. despite your suggestion.. i have confirmed that the path is correct but am still getting the error code below everytime i did not finish a download it could not resume..

Error: No such file or directory (/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/transmissionDownload/<movie name>

each time i manually resume, i is able to download for less than a minute and the above error code will appear again... and it is a loop process...
is this a bug? seems like transmission is not as ideal compared to the previous one.

p/s: am i able to download BT / use transmission when im watching movie at the same time?

Rgds,
Ben

Basically if you are getting those errors i would just recommend to backup your HDD Content first. Remove all partitions on the drive. Update the firmware in safe-mode and re-format the drive. Also i would recommend to use proper folder structures without spaces / special signs / brackets etc. just to avoid any problems with the file system. We tested this here as well and i don't get those erros. If the unit breaks down for some reason (power shortage or smth) the files might get corrupted.

Of course it is extra work to backup & format the drive but alternatively you could try using another drive (if you have) which is not so big or already empty.

best regards,

When looking at a downloading torrent file through the inspector and files pane there is a little icon with two arrows and a circle. What is this used for? Priority?

Your partial download file from the torrent may be "broken" caused by shutting off the box during a torrent without pausing it first. The box may not be able to re-assemble the file to continue the download. This happened to me when the box was powered off without a proper shutdown. You may be able to fix the file by attaching a PC to the box using a USB cable and running a CHKDSK. This should allow the torrent to resume although you may find that the file is still partially corrupted even if the torrent finishes ok. This also happened to me :( I really don't know why the internal disk does not use a Linux file system like ext3 or similar and then, maybe it would be able to be managed properly from within the firmware. Maybe it's because the USB facility to connect a PC is there and ACRyan decided that an NTFS file system would be easier to work with?

Hi,
indeed the NTFS format is used for compatibility. If you would hook up the player with an ext3 formatted drive to a windows system via usb you wouldn't be able to recognize the drive. As most users use Windows this is a logical step. For those who use Linux just format the HDD once in the player so it creates the correct partitions etc. and afterwards format the ntfs partition to ext3. This should do the trick and you should still be able to use the internal hdd as usual.

cheers,

Thanks Arne. So I can re-format the NTFS partition as ext3, then? It's a pity I have 100+GB of music files on it, though!

I'm a Windows PC user, but I do all my file management through the Samba interface and big copies via USB hard drive, so I never usually need to attach an external PC, except to fix broken files on the NTFS partition :dremel:

I may just do the re-format to ext3 though. My CD music collection is already backed to to FLAC images, but I've had several issues with non-recognised ID3 tags within the files and also with track start timings - which I've reported to your bug tracker folks. Unless you can tell me for sure that FLAC and CUE file indexing is being worked on for future firmware release, I feel that I should just go and re-rip my CDs as high quality MP3 files and then the box will be able to handle ID3 tags and the disc scanner will be able to store genre, artist, album in the database correctly. I know it basically works for the couple of albums I ripped as MP3s.

Re,
let me try that ext3 tomorrow at work once again just to be sure it also works on our new firmwares. FLAC doesn't use id3 tags it uses ogg / vorbis comments which is currently not supported yet. It is added as an feature request though.
NOTE: please make some new topic for such things next time since this isn't related to the transmission anymore ;)
I'll get back to you by tomorrow afternoon for the ext3 problem.

P.S. we have received your email in the bugtracker.

br!
