Post [HOW-TO] Using Transmission since r3966
Hi PlayON! Owners,

Due to some questions about the new firmware and the removal of BT here is just a short how-to for the use of the new transmission torrent client in our players.

1. flash new firmware r3966 (previous versions still have BT)
2. goto the setup menu and switch transmission on. (SETUP -> Network -> Transmission -> ON)
3. once transmission is running open your favorite browser on your phone/pc/laptop
4. enter the ip address of the player followed by port 9091 - for example: 192.168.1.20:9091
5. you than will be redirected to the transmission page where you can add / remove torrents to download

if you have any further questions please do let us know.

Hi Arne,

I've excitedly tried to check out the new BT downloader.. however, i hv issues for the BT to auto download with following error message:

Error: No such file or directory (/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/transmissionDownload/<filename>

No such issue when i download from my PC though and also the old AcRyan BT software..

Any idea?

Rgds, Ben

Hi,

please try to access the transmission page and enter the preferences (bottom left corner little symbol).
Check if the download path set there is corresponding with the one on your HDD. If all paths are correct setup the download should start.
Alternatively you can try to create another folder of your choice and change the path in the transmission preferences to the one you created.
It also might be that the file you downloaded wasnt finished and for some reason got damaged and therefore it cannot find/resume the file. You can check that if you access the HDD with Windows to check its contents.

cheers,

I've exact the same problem as benjaminhoo.
Also followed your instructions on Ur last post, although the paths are corresponding when I look from the network. Any last thoughts on this problem ?
I've already posted in the Issue forum ;)

Transmission works very good (I use transmission remote GUI) however, one question:
Wenn I change to some options (for example, "download ration limit enabled", "max download speed" etc.) they will be saved UNTIL I reset my Playon HD2. Then the options are automatically set back to the default settings!!!!
How can I permanent change these options? (I heard that I have to modify the file "settings.json" ?? How do I do that??)

Thanks for a quick answer

I'm trying to enable transmission from the Network Settings menu, however this is not being turned on, it remains off. Tried with wired as well as wireless. I'm using an HFS+ external hard disk connected via USB

You need to use a wired connection. For Wireless Transmission will not be able to be switched on. Also you need to use an internal HDD inside the player so transmission can download to that drive.

P.S. to avoid damaging the partly downloaded files try to pause the transmission downloads before powering off the unit. If you just power off the unit while its downloading it will result in corrupted files most likely.

best regards,

Hello Arne,

Can you please reply also on my question(s) as mentioned before on this page:

Thanks in advance!

Above is not true. I was able to "turn on" transmission using Wireless and able to download torrent file.
