Do you think it would make sense to adapt my humble ThumbGen app to generate also the required files for ACRyan players?

In one sentence: ThumbGen generates complex/good-looking jpg images (based on user defined templates) containing fanarts/movieinfo/mediainfo and can place them using any name in any location (it can also generate only thumbnails/covers if required).

It is used successfuly with WDTV players and recently Xtreamer products. It is a closed-source freeware application that I develop/maintain in my free time (Windows / .NET 3.5SP1 required).

I don't own an ACRyan player so I cannot provide more info about matching the app with what u need.

Attached u have a PlayOnHD profile to help you start. Just unzip it and place the .tgp file in the Profiles subfolder of ThumbGen and then choose it in the Profiles combobox. Not anymore necessary as the 0.12.27+ is having the profiles and will put them automatically in the "Profiles" folder.

I agree. You should make a version for PlayOnHD also!

I will try to search on forum and see what format/naming is required for PlayOn and I prepare a PlayOn profile that you can test. I'll be back here when I have some results.

I installed yamj and checked the output for one of my test folders... It generated a Jukebox folder with 200 files inside (indexes, html pages, etc). I guess the PlayOn FW reads these files and builds up the jukebox.
This is something I do not target. I just generate a flexible jpg file (based on a template) that the FW must know when to load (movie selected event, folder selected event) and show it to the user. That's what ThumbGen can do. If not needed, topic must be closed to avoid later confusions.

the pohd shows the first jpg in a movie folder so your program should work.

can it process multiple folders and does it do tvshows?

TG can process whatever you select (there is a FileBrowser dialog that allows u to select folders/individual files). The whole architecture is moviefile-based so each movie gets processed one after each other (u can skip movies or current folder).

There is support for TVShows (there are also some templates supporting the series) by getting info from TheTVDB.com (any language) + banners/fanart/screenshots.

I recommend processing TVShows separately from normal movies using only thetvdb.com (marked also as preferred info collector). On wdtvlive.net there are templates supporting series - check for ToniNegri as author.

Even in automatic mode you can intervene at any time (as you see what is happening and what will be selected), adjust what's wrong and then continue automatic processing.

Just spend some time trying to get into the app's logic and maybe you'll like it.

What is the filenaming that PlayOn expects for the jpg?

In Options/Advanced Settings there is a section Naming Convention that allows throwing the output anywhere with any name. I just need to know what the PlayOn expects and I'll tell you what strings need to be set there.


PS: A cool feature that makes my users very happy is the "Batch recreate sheets from metadata". If during processing movies you tell TG to automatically save metadata (.tgmd file) then after 2 months when u are bored by the current look (or u found a better template) u just select the new template, click a button, wait some minutes (depeding on your CPU) and all sheets are recreated.

Hmmm, sounds promising. I'm using TviXiE2PlayonHD now and I like it, so I like to try your piece of software.
Is it also possible to have something like categories? So it would be easier to find a the movie you want to watch?

It is up to you how u organize your movies; TG is just generating moviesheets that get placed near movie or inside some folder.

TG is NOT a movie jukebox and does NOT generate links or things like that.

PS: Tvixie editor can be used with TG templates (the structure is compatible, what's different in TG does not break the editor).

You do not need an account to download TG from there (I hope! if yes then tell me immediately so I request the site owner to change this).
