How to install Metafeeds on your Playon!HD mini



1. Telnet to your Playon!HD mini.
>> Start Button >> Search for 'telnet' >> Type in 'o <POHD IP Address>' >> Login with 'root'

2. Identify the directory your usbstick is mounted on.
>> Type 'df' >> Your directory is in the red box as indicated by the picture above.

3. Paste this:
e.g. cd /tmp/usbmounts/sda ..
4. Delete menu.rss or menu-european.rss depending on your region.
>> Asian user >> Delete menu-european.rss from 'rss_scripts' folder in your usbstick.
>> European user >> Delete menu.rss, then rename menu-european.rss to menu.rss.

You're very much welcomed! Most of the credits should go to vonck since I only stripped and modified his script a little. We are still trying to work on a better install script that allows you to choose the directory by giving a few default options, but it's really challenging as the usbmount names are all different each time you insert a usbstick and with different configurations as well as regions.

I'm leaving for Thailand on a service-learning project this coming 24th and won't be back till 9th March, which is 2 weeks later. Hence, I decided to make a "lite" version of vonck's work-in-progress install script for mini users before that. I'm so glad that you're the first to benefit from it!

Thanx Zane ! One question, why to delete/rename the menu on the stick when you don't copy it afterwards to the mini ?
Or am i missing something ?

@fulgore: Well, the main differences between the Asian and the European firmwares' RSS is that the Asian one has a Youku icon which is the Chinese spin-off of YouTube. As the installer reads the RSS icons/scripts from the USB stick, I've created 2 separate RSS menu files.

They have to be named menu.rss in order to be read by the system. In order to make the mini installer scripts as universal as possible to cater to both Asian and European firmwares, the default menu.rss is Asian version as I'm using the Asian firmware. For Europeans who would want to remove the Youku icon, you can delete the default menu.rss and rename the menu-european.rss to menu.rss.

do i need a YAMJ firmware for metafeeds to work properly?

none of the video's want to play on my v7.0.21 r2898 FW

well.. i've installed v7.0.21 r3612 with yamj and metafeeds wasn't visible in the feeds menu anymore after the update.

now when trying to reinstall metafeeds i get a

wget: metafeeds-install: Read-only file system

error.

i'm usng the same usb stick (formatted it first) and it's not write protected

i did the update extensions thingy in the system update menu and now i'm able to install metafeeds again.
videofeeds are working as well

hi.. me again

i've found a bug.

when selecting a feed, let's say mevio, then the subsections (tech, new episodes etc) are highlighted when you move the cursor up and down with your remote.

but when you select 'mevio tech' then nothing is highlighted anymore and theres no way of knowing which episode you're selecting.
this happens with almost all feeds.
