Post Yamj index.htm does not show all movies in Playon!HD
Hi,

I have installed Yamj and created the index.htm for my movie collection.
My movie collection is located on \\nas\video and the index.htm is also there (as it should be)
When opening the index.htm from my computer it shows all movies as expected.
All categories are filled and when clicking a cover the details are also show properly.
So far so good, but when opening the same index.htm from the Playon!HD2 it does not show anything.
It is set to show all movies but it doesn't do that.
When changing categories to drama i can see one of the covers (in the drama should also be more
I have pressed OK the first time i opened the index.htm on the Playon!HD2

After a while when i retried it i got the following;
On the Playon!HD2 when i go to Movie Jukebox and navigate to my \\nas\video directory, i can enter the directory but get the error No Html index file.
When i go to the \\nas\video from my computer it is stil there......

Thanks for any help on this case

Version data;
Software: v9.5.3r7317
Bootloader: 0000.0303.0015
Board: 1185

You will get more assistance if you post such questions in the dedicated YAMJ subforum.

What version of YAMJ are you running?

Hi There

I've move the topic into the YAMJ forum, and a couple of points come to mind
  • Your version of YAMJ is out of date. Please upgrade to the latest version from Omertron's Media Player Site and follow the upgrade instructions.
  • The blank screen you are seeing is down to the way you have named your video / tv show files. YAMJ has naming standards, but the jukebox firmware does not follow all of them. The naming standards are in the YAMJ Wiki. In particular, read the PlayOnHD page as this explains the main limitations
  • Once YAMJ is updated and you have renamed your files then delete the index file and Jukebox directory and rerun YAMJ.

I can then help you sort out any other problems that are still there

Andy

I have used my current version of Yamj with a Playon!HD2 Mini and there it worked fine.
I am aware of the naming of files for use with Yamj.
The index.htm worked fine with the Playon!HD Mini, but not with the HD2

Is it possible to delete the Jukebox folder and the index.htm and recreate them, or do i need to do more to get that working?

Are you using the same version of firmware on both units?

I suggest that you standardise on r7317 (not 7716 as it is a POS - Piece of SH@T) as that is what Andy and the "Big O" are focussed on and will have the best chance of success.

It may be a few days till all testing/bugs are resolved and I am trying to assist so watch the YAMJ subforum for details.

Agreed Greg
v7317 should be the standard firmware used as a baseline

I have only 1 unit, the Playon!HD2 wich is running r7317, i returned the mini.
I just deleted the jukebox folder and the index.htm file and succesfully recreated them using Yamj 1.3 but get exact the same issue.
When i go to the drama section there is again 1 movie visable
It seems like some caching is going on on my NAS (Synology DS209 (RAID1)) but i'm not sure.
I created a copy and renamed the old index.htm to index.htm.old but get the same problem.
Deleted the index.htm and created an index.txt file (rightclick - new - text document)renemed it to index.htn(so this is a blank index.htm) and still get the same problem (one documentary shown)
Where does this information come from??????

I narrowed it down to the Jukebox folder.
When using a blank index.htm it still shows the one movie, when removing the index.htm it will not work.
So HD2 looks for the existence of a index.htm and then uses the jukebox folder??
When opening the index.htm produced by Yamj in IE it does show the movies, but i can't get it to work in HD2
Could this be a JAVA issue perhaps?
I got JAVA 6.32 installed (both 32 and 64 bit as i use W7 64 bit OS)

Hi stegman

This is how it works: -
  • The Jukebox firmware looks for the index.htm file
  • Once you select an index.htm file Jukebox prompts you with an ok/cancel prompt
  • The first time you load the Jukebox, or following a rerun of YAMJ to upadate the content, select OK and the Jukebox firmware will then spend a couple of minutes building the .xml files it uses to populate the content and drop down menus on it's interface
  • On subsequent loads of the index file you can select cancel, as there is no need to regenarate the interface files

If the content files have been generated, then in your jukebox folder you will find a file called Other_all.xml which is used to deliver the content for the unfiltered jukebox interface. Files called Other_all_1.xml, Other_all_2.xml etc. are generated by Yamj and not used directly to drive the Junkebox interface

If Other_all.xml is not there then your jukebox display will be blank.
If it is there and your jukebox display is blank then you have a file naming problem

As you are seeing the content OK when opening the index file in a browser then there are no Java or major YAMJ related problems on the PC

If your index file worked Ok on a Playon HD Mini, but not the HD2, which firmware was on the Mini and which is on the Mini 2?

If you are connectiing to the NAS share OK and still not finding the file, do you have any permissions restriction on the NAS? The jukebox firmware needs full read / write access to the YAMJ output folder and there should be no permissions or access restrictions on it.

Hope this helps clear things up, let me know how you get on and we will try and give more help

Andy
