 USB corruption
When i use my usb stick to play movies or transfer, I always remove the stick safely with eject from playon!hd2. After inserting the stick in my PC ( running windows 7, 32b) i get the message that the stick needs to be repaired. This is irritating.. There seems to be nothing wrong with the stick ( i tried several usb sticks). Sometimes the stick contains a folder ".Theater" (added by playon) which is a illegal name for w7. But even after removing this folder the warning remains. How can i get rid of this irritating message? Does playon!hd2 corrupt the file structure of the memory stick?
Thanks in advance.

 Re: USB corruption
Hi to both of you. Sorry for any inconvenience, you can just turn off "auto scan" feature under the player system setup, as sometimes scanning the disks corrupts the media library. By the way the eject button always work for me.

 Re: USB corruption
Roger,
I my case auto scan was already turned off. This seems to make no difference.

 Re: USB corruption
To my observation, it is not the Autoscan which corrupts the file system on the USB HDD, but if I choose to use my own font from the Resource folder, then Windows always ask to repair my USB HDD everytime I have used it with the POHD.

 Re: USB corruption
zeryus,
I use the default font and have never change it. Is it possible to overcome this problem by using different font than default?

 Re: USB corruption
Please both check if you have firmware version 7317 on your unit. Personally tested few external drives with and without files including today before my post and the result was always fine.

 Re: USB corruption
The same problem exists with the Mini 2 firmware 7317 & 7716. I have now tried 8 NTFS formatted drives, all chdsk'd before removal from the PC and removed safely.
100% repeatable.
Plug drive into PlayOn Power on PlayOn Power off playOn Remove disk and plug into PC...
SCAN REQUIRED
As was said in previous posts, DAMN ANNOYING!!

 Re: USB corruption
I've tried version 7317. Both (5440 and 7317) have the same problem. I'm using NTFS formatted USB memory sticks. ( imation and verbatim) So no solution so far..

The folder .Theater contains the data base with the indexes of the scanning process and this folder is always created when it does not exist on a memory device. The dot in front of the file name makes it hidden for Linux, the Playon operating system. You can delete the folder with the Windows Explorer if you like, but a new .Theater folder is created again when you insert your USB memory stick into your Playon, even if you have Auto scan turned off. It is valid file name in Windows 7. Use the Notepad and save a sample text with any file name preceded by a dot and the Windows Explorer will show your file including the preceding dot. You can also rename a file by putting a dot in front of the file name without problem
