Hey Folks at AC Ryan,

Are you planning on introducing a new player that supports HDMI 1.4a ? ( what the HDMI group now defines as " High Speed HDMI Cable – 1080p, 4K, 3D and deep color, High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet" )

I would really appreciate it if you can do something about having full support for 3D & a potential for 4k ( Quad HD ) via a future FW upgrade. I don't really want to go buying a player from someone else, cos I have been a big fan of the Mini. But now is when I am looking at you folks to provide support\enhancement for the technologies that are now in the groove.

Hello Dnz,

We can't upgrade the hardware with a firmware upgrade.

Native HDMI 1.4 support must be on the chipset/board when the chipset is made. This is not possible on all our current products as they are all using HDMI 1.3 output.

I'm not able to promise, but this should and will be considered in any future products that we release, but at this point we have no exact details on when and what product will include this.

I'm hopeful that in a quite soon future we will be able to share what will be included in our future product/s and then also confirm your personal request.

I do understand that 1.4 is a HW feature and cannot be done via a FW upgarde

What I meant when I said " I would really appreciate it if you can do something about having full support for 3D & a potential for 4k ( Quad HD ) via a future FW upgrade." was, with the new player, it should be able to support 3D right in the beginning and support for 4k could be done over time when 4k TV's are available easily in the commercial market via a FW upgrade on the new player.

I was wondering, is there a possibility for you folks to introduce 3D on the current player via a FW upgrade The PS3 does a pretty neat job with HDMI 1.3 on it. I also know for a fact that you can have "NOT" full HD 3D support on HDMI 1.3

I'm quite sure that 3D has more chance be considered with any of our next future products, as it's quite relevant today. However, the '4K Quad HD' will not be considered this year as there is no content for this yet and not even formats that play this. On a personal belief, I don't think this is relevant next year either. I would be happy if I'm wrong though

We will always communicate product related news through our social medias and website first. I can't give further details as we have no officicial news about this at the moment.
