Post Re: [BETA] PV73100 r4107 firmware **POHD**
Hi all.

I am sure this is a great improvement for those who like pretty things.

Functionality has not been touched though. This is still SDK3.0 as is r2901. r2901 would play .iso files okay. Subsequent releases had the .iso playback broken and this release is no different.

The official release 3875 had the audio side broken, amonst other bugs, but this release has that fixed. I still have to press inst replay to correct the surround sound, but at least it does correct it in this release.

I reckon this is mostly a cosmetic\yamj update with no real improvements.

I am not expecting the HDMI problems to be fixed with this SDK. I am hoping, though, the next release from Realtek does have major improvements in a lot of areas.

Some problems I would expect to be fixed in this SDK - audio severely out of sync with .iso files. It worked okay in r2901 so why not now? - It is still the same SDK after all is said and done.

Seems to me all the development was on a new look to the interface. I am thinking the dev team have given up on trying to fix real issues with this SDK and are waiting for the next SDK from Realtek before doing anything.

That is my initial reaction to this release.

Thanks for reading.

A.V.

Sorry you're having trouble with everything. Problems with the PlayOn, problems with Sky+HD, problems with Harmony 525 remote.

Perhaps it's due to a timewarp when you came from whichever planet you're on.

Ha ha ha... (booming laughter emanating from Omicron Perseii 8)

It's a known fact that the Sky+HD boxes have problems.

The Harmony remote, well, maybe I have lost interest lately.

The Playon!HD does have it's problems but I am confident the right firmware will fix them... Eventually.

This release does not.

Cheers.

Thanks for the updated firmware and the new facility to use ThumbGen rich content which is most welcome, however the restriction that every movies must be in its own folder and therefore use of 0001.jpg and folder.jpg suits some people but it does not suit all. I have multiple movies in the same folder. I file my movies by genres folders.

Can you look at a more flexible arrangement. ie for the movie avatar.mp4 I have avatar.jpg for the DVD cover and avatar.mainsheet.jpg for the TG template. This allows multiple movies in the same folder.

thanks

Hi rnew,

We are discussing on the improvements and see what we could do... maybe display rows of thumbnail based on your collection.. so that's why it's named as folder.jpg as we might need to do some hard coding to detect out the folder jpgs and display out as thumbnail similar to YAMJ... Sadly, there is any filtering system on this movie folder playback function unlike YAMJ...

a few minutes a go i have installed and the new GUI looks great especially that when you are on setup and you press right again it go's to the browser so you don't have to go all the way back

''When you are in the Thumbgen "SLOW" mode UP and DOWN works as promised.
The next or previous movie is shown'' works good and fast

. Recording Stream to hard drive for Internet Radio

Record audio device option under Setup – Misc, where you can save Internet Radio playing streams to your internal HDD. During live internet radio streaming, press AUDIO on RC (remote control) to start recording. Recording Streams to USB ext. HDD doesn't work at this moment.

I Can't find the radio files. I store it under HDD ?????

I know where you're coming from with the Harmony. I have the 555 and I can only remember the programmed keys for the Sky HD box; for the rest I've gone back to the original remotes. I think the PlayOn remote is very good anyway.

Sorry, I have to disagree with the rest of your comments. I have the PlayOn Mini and have no problems with .iso files or any of the others you mention. Perhaps it's because they're from the external HDD and not streamed.

Hi Graham.

Your comments are interesting. What equipment is your mini connected to (amp, tv, resolution, etc.)?

Are you connected via HDMI and does your mini work with HDMI-CEC?

I don't want to hijack this thread and maybe it should be in a different section, this being for the firmware releases.

I am trying to build up a picture of what works and what doesn't with different equipment. I am thinking that the problems may not all be firmware related and, maybe, inconsistencies between different users are due to firmware conflicting with hardware connected to the Playon.

Does that make sense?

Anyway, I am hoping that Realtek release a new SDK soon with better coding.

Cheers.
