Post [Official] Firmware_PV73100_v7.4.x.r5440
Hello Playon!HD owners!

We are happy to announce our new official firmware.
Below you will find links to download this new firmware together with the change log and instructions on how to install this firmware.

We have turned off 'Setup>System>Auto Scan' by default. This means that the main menu 'Movie/Music/Photo' selection will not be accessible until this function has been turned on and scanned your local storage. You can use 'Files Manager' or the new 'Shortcuts' for quick access of your files. We have done this change due to the possibility of adding 'Shortcuts' and to save resources of the player for those who don't want to have this function on.

Important: To install this firmware you need to have at least Firmware v7.3.x.r3582 installed in your player. You can see your firmware version in 'Setup>System>System information or 'Setup>Misc>Version info'. If you have a older version, you need to start with version v7.3.x.r3582 before updating this.

Hello,

If you mean the Samba issues?

This has been escalated to Realtek and has a high priority.

Yes, I mean the unstable connection and transfer speeds over network.

But I'm sorry.. How can we take an exclamation like "it has high priority" still serious?
We've been waiting something like 1,5 - 2 years for this to happen.... Other brands based on RT chip sets don't have these problems, so why blame it all on Realtek?

I'm really getting fed up with this time after time...

What's the use of a network media player, when the network functionallity doesn't work propperly?

Hello,

High priority means that we are able to reproduce some of the end users serious issues like crashing while transferring with the samba protocol, and we are repeatedly checking with Realtek how this progress is going.

This all depends on how you transfer, what you transfer and from or to the player and also variations with different network environments. Currently we are investigating the difference with our previous SDK to the new one to see if we can pinpoint the problem. This is inside the closed SDK that we receive from Realtek so we require their help to sort this issue.

You can use different ways to transfer with Samba -> GUI, drag + drop in your OS. You also have NFS, UPnP, FTP, Neighbor Web, USB transfers to use if you are not able to use the Samba as a workaround for now.

This is the information we have right now and are not able to give more at this point.

I've not yet installed it, but I must say: fw upgrades are coming in at a faster pace now, thanks ACR!

Hello,

If you mean 'Movies/Music/Photos' selection/scan in the main menu, if you want to use this. Then just go to 'Setup>System>Scan Storage' and turn this on. Your '.Theater' folder created from previous scan will still be saved in your HDD and will not require a full scan to get access to these files again.

If there is nothing else interesting for you in this firmware from the previous one, then of course, you don't need to install this firmware, but for the reason you just stated, that is not a issue.

Is AAC audio going to work in this version?
Why is there still no audio option "raw"? (as far as I can see in the changelog)

Hello,

It's called passthrough, and you find it in 'Setup>Audio>HDMI/SPDIF' options if your AVR supports this.

AAC in 'LPCM Multichannel' still has issues that it does not play all streams. This has not been fixed in this version.
