do you know what i would really find usefull? A way to play a song on the device without adding it to the playlist or any other tricks. just plain and simple, enter a address in the browser: for ex: http:\\playonhd\play.cgi?song=c\media\album\song.mp3
this would automatically stop the device current action and just play that media. Can we do that? can we?
thank you. i'm sure this would kick ass. someone will make a 3rd party app that shows the songs.. turns this into a real media device. I suggest simple API for this. For example, http:// playonhd/web_api.cgi?cmd=play&file=c/media/album/song.mp3 - starts to play file (audio/video/image)http:// playonhd/web_api.cgi?cmd=stop - stops playinghttp:// playonhd/web_api.cgi?cmd=pause - toggles pausehttp:// playonhd/web_api.cgi?cmd=get_file_list&dir=c/media/album - returns xml (or newline separated file) with directory file and subdirectory listXML could look like: Code: <filelist dir="c/media/album"> <dir>Subdirectory 1 name</dir> <dir>Subdirectory 2 name</dir> <file type="video" size="4500000000">movie.mkv</file> <file type="music" size="3000000">song.mp3</file> <file type="image" size="500000">picture.jpg</file> </filelist>
size attribute is optional. Other attributes may be added, just idea.
With these simple commands other developers can create simple & powerful apps for phones & PC's. ACRyan could also make simple web interface using these commands to make dynamic web app instead of static "remote control" app. Advantages - for example: 1) No more need to turn on TV to select another song to play. 2) Ability to make application with it's local playlists. P.S. I've put SPACE after "http://" to remove link formatting only.

Hello ibaldazar, This is currently only possible to do with DLNA enabled on the player, and using WMP or similar programs. Not sure if your suggestion is possible at the moment, will check. Edit: Noted BaSSiST! Thanks Br,

Besides some issues/bugs i will post later, i first have a question about the subtitles because this annoys me to the limit.
Ever since the beginning the (external) subs on the Play-on are greyish and difficult to read on brighter backgrounds, due to the lack of proper shadows on the subtitles. Lots of users including myself have complained about this issue, but even up until this Beta, the issue is still there. I remember it being a little bit better (but still not satisfactory) in one firmware.
Subs should be whiter and have more shadows, so the readability will improve.
Can you please fix this in the next Beta ?
Thanks. Hello Paulus, I've spoken with our developers about this, and we will see what we can do. My personal suggestion was to develop a new feature that makes it possible to chose your own subtitle fonts to please everyone. We will see what happens with this, but it's been look into for sure. Thanks

Hello Mikael, There is another issue wich is bugging a lot of users. Since SDK3 the option to switch HDMI audio off had been gone. This means that every user that has no HDMI connection to theri receiver have to mute their TV's in order to get proper sound. This is very annoying and unexplainable to the household. Could you please, please make this an option again? Thanks.

Thanks Eversince the new SDK build, a preferred selected subtitle color/size or whatever allowed isn't remembered in the next movie of a particular company which uses the same format in every film they produce. Say if I set it as size 24/yellow color, it'll go back to default in the next movie. It wasn't so in the last SDK build. I highlighted this issue at least twice in the past and NOTHING DONE! I\m assuming the developers can't be bothered to address this yet. I'm perhaps lucky my POHD is quite stable with every build so far and never hung, reboot or very wierd symptoms suffered by other owners here. I'm actually baffled by some of these reports and thinking is POHD that bad after flashing new firmware? If this happened on any PC, I reckon it'll cause a irritation of the highest order, but this isn't a PC. Anyway, the point is I hope the subtitle issue is rectified by next issue. It was working in the previous SDK and it doesn't work now. Hope its not to much to ask the developers to rectify this very soon.

Thank you Mikael!
Dlna is not good. It only works by default only with locally stored mp3s/movies. If you want to use your 2TB drive from the playon device with the windows [play to], you have to enable search and indexing on mapped drives (wich is a bit more then tricky because you need to download some fix from microsoft), then add them in the library(wich will take ages) and after everything is setup, when i will ask for a song, windows will read it from the device, then send it back to it (probably cause also a lot of processing time on the device side being a multithreade operation).. it's like scracting your left ear with your right hand:) Plus, when ever windows feals like, it will start to index your library and open 10/15 samba connections that will crash the device!
BaSSiST just standardized everything:) thanks man! Let's hope they like our ideea:)

Hope this helps.

 Re: [BETA] ACR-PV73100 v7.4.x.r4585 Playon!HD
I have my movies in genre folders, comedy, Sci Fi etc in File Manager...perhaps I'm missing something but there appears to be no option to set this "genre" option or high level folders when I select Movies from the main menu the best i can do is list by name. I can "go to Folders" which takes me to the File Manager and there they are...makes the GUI a bit pointless. Is there a way to do this in the GUI ? Also because of that I see no Thumbnails as the info is left behind in the Genre folders. Not impressed, also my music files keep disappearing and I have to run scan all the time to get them back. Help !
