Post Re: [BETA] ACR-PV73100 v7.4.x.r2115 Playon!HD
The new GUI looks really nice. This Beta however is really too slow.
When I turned off HD scanning it got much faster...what does that scan do? Mod: index yr media files

-The jukebox is better now than I can go right back to the other indexes.
Although hard to read the jukebox some film descriptions in dark blue, instead of white. Mod: noted
-I like all the Internet media options, though some don't really work 100% Mod:known
-Too bad the GUI default fonts are very small to read, especially from the couch.
Can we make them larger? Mod: working on it, also you can adjust GUI by pressing "menu" button
-Having a problem with network disconnection. Mod: pls explain

I hope you guys finally stop here and work on fine-tuning this one.
Thanks, ---------Michael

Just found out that both USB ports on my playonhd are dead. It doesn't even supply power to the player. Is there any ways for me to update the firmware via the hdd?

You can use a SD-card to flash the FW

Mod: this is correct

Post Re: [BETA] ACR-PV73100 v7.4.x.r2115 Playon!HD
Hi all,

I installed the new Gui2.0 (r2115) on my POHDmini and here my findings:
- All my movies, fotos, music are playing fine. (both external HD as via Network)
- Youtube, Shoutcast working fine :-) Great job Ac-Ryan.
- Navigation via remote control is not intuitive (using the ->> and <<-- buttons, iso wheel in the middle)

Questions on this version r2115 compared with r4824:
1) Where can i set a fixed IP@ on my POHD for my Wireless dongle ? In previous version 4824 it was possible.
2) How can i run a slideshow on my photo's ?
3) Where can I enable the "NAS mode", because from my PC, I can't see the PlayonHD in my network ? The other way around (POHD -> Network-> PC) is working fine.

Thanks for your help.

Looking good so far.
Sometimes slightly sluggish, but I can live with that.
Still missing a way to make decent shortcuts.

Any way to work with better with the movies/photos/music categories ??
If I select movies, it will show me litterally everything....m2ts streams, movies from my photocamera.
Would love an easy way to select just certain types, or jusy certain folders.

use filemanager i.s.

Never mind. Deleting this FW.
Doens't work on my unit. Keeps breaking of network connections during copying of files.

Massive fail

i tested this the moment i saw your first post about it FranDaMan,
and also had this issue.

i restarted the device and it worked yet slower as expected,
but it has just finished copying a 8GB file from pc to the playonhd,

so you could try to reinstall the firmware once again through the safe flash and try again,
before going back to an older one,

even if it is to shed some light on this issue.
thanks for reporting of-course.

;)

Mnope, I didn't safe flash. Another user has reported the same problem using the POHD2 and it turns out the indexing is breaking on long filenames (or possibly filepaths).

I've removed the music on my POHD, as it wasn't much and I use UPNP for listening and the indexing completed without error. The "Recently" lists are populated (incorrectly, older files get listed as recently added) and no rebooting. I've played around with all the options I use regularly and everything seems to be in order. I've only experienced one crash and reboot after that, again on the Home screen with the "Recently" lists.

The overall experience is a bit slower, but not showstopping. I did have some problems with my TV not being able to determine the correct screen resolution. I had to manually tell it to use Widescreen, with the previous firmware it could autoformat. But that's a minor nitpick.

Going to test the NAS and Jukebox features now. Hopefully support for TV Shows is finally there, as is the Watched/Unwatched flag for movie files. Those two features have been very high on my wishlist from the beginning. But GUI 2.0 is, for me at least, a giant leap forward.

Flashing back to the old firmware first and see what happens. Then I might try to reflash the new one.
Keep you posted, but I have to say this is bad bad advertising for ACryan.

do try the safe flash anyway,

i also did the menu flash first,
but after half an hour i was done with it and decided to do the safe flash,
it solved some of my first issues.

of-course i could tell quicker i needed one as i knew what to expect,
as we are testing already a long time,
and the firmware by the setupmenu did not feel right,

it is still a bit sluggisch now but copying works (which i had some issues with)
as with some small other things.

but you can decide yourself if or if not you want to try this.

;)

FranDaMann best is to first use the safe flash,
before going back.

;)

I also noticed a network drop but haven't restarted device yet, i think it needs to be restarted after initial flash a few times.

Anyway, found a menu bug in audio section during playback.
Steps to reproduce is to launch a song from last added in main menu.
