Post how can I use a 3 terabyte external HDD on my playon HD?
I have a problem with an external HDD I'm trying to use with my ac ryan playon HD essential.

I've tried to split it into two partitions but it wont work.

some files will play, and some wont. some can be moved to the new HDD, and some I'll get a message saying "file copy failed!" or something like that.

what should I do?

I used Windows to make 2 NTFS partitions. Worked great for me, but some tip can be found here:

the external HDD uses USB3 by the way.

what kind of problems did you encounter on your AC ryan before making 2 partitions?

The external HDD must have its own power supply.
Use a USB2 Cable.

To make 2 NTFS partitions is easier. But the Playon's have write error with ntfs. You can lose all of the files.

I recommend the Gparted Live CD to make ext3 partitions. Download the Gparted Iso file and make a bootable CD.
Google and then Download a ext3 Driver for Windows and install him. I am use "Ext2Fsd", but there are still others. Ext2Fsd is at the beginning a little complicated, but if it is running then he makes his service.

If you are still use ntfs then follow this:
No write about the Playon. Copy files with the external HDD plug on your PC.
Index scanning off.
Do at regular intervals a chkdsk with Windows (not the internal check from Playon, this is a fake)

The external HDD does have it's own power supply. The cable that came with the HDD is like this in the end that connects to the HDD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Conne ... 33_wp_.jpg According to wikipedia it's called a USB 3.0 Micro-B connector.
In the other end of the cable it's a "normal" USB connector.

The part that I marked in bold, I don't understand exactly what you want me to do.

Hi naits,

What Arni meant was that because of some bugs in the NTFS driver you should be careful how you use the player. Copying by USB (from PC to player) is fine, because the firmware of the player is not involved in this. Repeated read/write operations (such as using the index scanner) can damage files. Network transfers are risky as well (but usually too slow to be of any use). In many cases these damaged files can be recovered by connecting it to a PC and using checkdisk (chkdsk). The player has a check function of its own, but apparently this doesn't work as it should.
