Is there a size limitation (e.g. 5 MB) on the .png file that can be used as a wallpaper for the playON mini HD2 ?

I dont know the limi but since the Players has limited memory onboard don't use to big files.

This can slow down also your player.

You should always resize the image you want to use to 720p (1280 x 720) otherwise you will get inconsistent results.

Do this witth any image editor and save it as PNG format.

The file size of such an image will end up around 500K, nowhere near 5Mb.

It's correct what Gregi mentioned. The background will be displayed in 720p anyways so there is no point in using bigger resolutions. A size limit is not really there but it's demanding more resources of course to load a bigger picture.
