The first days I saw in the PlayonHD browsemenu NETWORK my computer on the PlayonHD (Mshome Kofmetal)
and also Workgroup Playonhd, next to
- My_Shortcuts
- My_Neighbors

Suddenly I can't see my pc (Mshome Kofmetal) and the PlayOnHD (Workgroup Playonhd) no more in the Playonhd network browser.

I can see my playonhd on my pc and I can reach Neighbor Web from my pc and Bittorrent Download.
The UPnP also works.

The PlayOnHD is connected to Linksys Broadband Router WRT54GL (wired LAN).
I use Windows XP Professional on my pc.



I tried a lot:
disconnecting/rebooting all kind of machines. It does not help.
I am not familiar with the Unix stiff, so all the programming lines does mean nothing to me.

When a use telenet I get after login the message:


warning: cannot change to home directory

So here I'm stucked.

I hope that in a next firmware version this will be solved and I will be able again to stream with my PlayOnHD.

By the way: I like the PlayOnHD very much; it is a nice tool and was worthwile bying it.

You can check if the three services are installed and running. You can find it on SETUP, then SYSTEM under it choose extension info. Do let us know

Everything works, except that I can't access my pc via network browser on PlayonHD

Finally I solved the problem.

Upgrading the firmware didn't help.

I'm used to shut down the cable modem and router at night.
I suppose that the services couldn't restart properly after restarting the next morning. They were running, but not well.

I figured it out that de-installing the three services and after that installing them again solved the network-problem.

I ask A.C.Ryan to fix this problem in a next firmware-update, so that shutting down cable modems and routers doesn't give these kind of problems.

By the way, where can we get an upgrade of the extension package?

Thanks Trottle for your solution I had the same problem to. Just re-installing those programs and the problem is solved.

For me it's not a solution. I can find the network and my laptop with browsing and copying menu options, but when entering the network I get the Net User ID screen.
Operating system on the laptop is windows Vista, I made a guest account as mentioned in the pdf. I also de-installed and re-installed and re-run the three services, and even after a reboot still the Net User ID screen (I hope the ID and password is not my problem?). Only change is that the 'Workgroup' network is visible now, but still no access to my laptop and the first few weeks this device has been completely worthless to me.

To access I could fill in my Windows login name and password into the inlog dialog (remove the defaults first) and create a shortcut. This did work.
To get rid of the inlog dialog I added security rights for "everyone" on my shared folders in Vista.
To get access to the Playon!HD I removed the McAfee Network Manager.

Thanks. I've got no password on my own Vista-account, so that's not an option. You've done a lot of things to get access!!
What exactly did you do when you added security rights? Did you remove the other right, and the right were all owners?

I did not change the other settings.

The owner is "Administrators (myloginname\Administrators), I did not change that.
