Hi, I do not want to turn off password protected sharing. I tried logging on to my share using my username and password but it still says password failed.

Can anyone help?

I use the "fix" (three changes into the registry, see above by Harro). I delete all shares in the TranscodeServer sw. Than, I share every folder or HD with right mouse click, choose 'sharing', 'advanced sharing', tab 'sharing', advanced sharing again, tick 'these map sharing', fill in a name for the share and click 'permissions'. Look if you see 'everybody' in the box for users. When not, choose 'add' and give all permissions. OK, OK, Close. So, that's the way you do it.
Restart the computer and go to your PlayOn. Go to the NET function and click, 'workgroup', click, name computer click, login screen appear do not fill anything and browse through your video's, music etc. There is no next login screen. The login is saved to the shortcuts.

want to share my exp & hope it'll be useful to you all.

i was having issues as well with this whole sharing setup & transferring file to POHD. sometimes it works some other time not. even if it works, i got data transfer rate of only 1.5MB/sec... MAX!

on POHD, i'm using samba server that came on with it & had upgraded to the latest firmware. did all the tricks mentioned here in this forum as well as several other places in the net. nothing worked. not only having issues to connect to POHD, the other symptom i had is unable to see or connect to my other XP machine from my win7 lappy.

UNTIL.... i flash my wifi router w/ new firmware, only now the problem is solved!!
i able to see my XP machine & POHD consistently from my win7 lappy now. the data transfer from win7 to POHD still sucks, but at least 1/2 the problem solved.

So far I haven't had any luck with this device. Only the firmware update and the upgrade went fine, that was 5 hours ago. Ever since then I've tried to get the sharing of folders on Windows 7 to work, but with no succes.


Here is my situation:

I have the Playon!HD Mini device and it's connected to the internet/network through wireless.

On the network is also my PC, which is connected to the internet/network by cable, my laptop which is connected by wireless. - I followed both tweaks given here on the page, and I have like octo-checked that it is all exactly as described. Both Machines running Windows 7.

My router is a Netgear CG3000 and it is configured totally normal, no tweaks or anything, and the HD mini easily connects to it. I am usually really good with networking, so I know my way around routers, and especially this one.

The HD mini device never shows anything else than "My Neighbours" and "My Shortcuts". Grrr!

I can easily access one PC from the other over the network and use the shared folders, send and recieve and so forth - No problem.

I even tried with my friends laptop across the street, both cabled to the router and wireless, - Nada!


So, now I am just a tad frustrated and next week I return it if a solution hasn't come up.

In the setting of networks Playon!HD The user should be the same as the COMPUTER NAME property is in view (panel configuration - system)

Can't login in to the computer sharing folders, got the pohd mini with fw 3582. Done what's said in the HOWTO but doesn't work.
Also tried: Changing the name on the mini to playonhd (lowercase), tried making a separate account for the mini (wo/ pwd), turned off the firewall in win7, tried my own account (w/ pwd), tried nothing, tried to use user null pwd null, etc..

Anyone got a clue ? / what else did ppl do ?

The solution with the registry did not work for me. Besides I feel that most users should stay away from the registry if they don't know what they are doing.
The real solution was/is to download the latest software version on the Playon. After that I could share whatever I liked between Windows 7 and my Playon!HD.
